"The room was nice yet cozy and I loved the private patio garden and bubbling brook. We enjoyed the shower and restroom heater as well! Nic kindly allowed us to leave our car parked past checkout time for our dolphin swim. She was so kind and even allowed us to borrow a beach towel even though we returned it after checkout as well! We highly recommend this hotel!"

"We stayed in Port Watch in February, 2026. The location of the property is good and surroundings are beautiful with views of the harbour. However, as other review mentioned it's hard to find it, especially when it's getting dark. The owner should provide a better description how to get there and mention steep hidden unsealed driveway. Google maps did not help at all. When we finally got in, there was a strong mouldy smell throughout, it was also hot inside. We tried to open windows to get fresh air, but as there were no fly nets on windows, all the forest insects thought they were welcome to the house!! So, we had to close windows, and the night was very unpleasant. In general, we thought that the house felt like run down place that could be made a beautiful place to stay. The kitchen was equipped poorly, old pans, not enough plates for 5 people, beds of mixed comfort. Bathrooms were updated though."

"In the aftermath of an extreme weather event, i cannot fault the comms from Annette as we worked through our options. Turns out that everything was all good to go for our stay and our group of six had a great time in Akaroa. The house had everything we needed, instructions were clear and we left this morning very content with the weekend away."
