Had a nice stay at the hotel with my wife and daughter, staff are so friendly, room and common spaces are very clean. As for the food & beverages, it can be better, it is below average. The pool with a swim up bar is for adults only, which make it difficult to spend time with your kid while enjoying a drink. Overall, it was a good experience.

Housekeeping was excellent and spotless. The food was really tasty and we never had a bad meal here, the spread was very good. Service in general was very spot on especially Chaminda, who took really good care of us. The kids club ran by Shashini was very well received by our daughter and overall we had a really good time hear. We would love to visit again!

RIU was excellent in service and being an all inclusive, we didn't need to leave the property! Many choices on the menu to keep you there both for food and drinks. Lots of entertainment and activities throughout the day so never a dull moment. Would definitely recommend going with a group to make full use of the unlimited cocktails and beers. Has a kids club and kids pool too which keeps them occupied.

We had an amazing experience at Riu Sri Lanka. More Kids friendly activities would have been great. Otherwise, it is a lovely place to stay to relax, eat and be entertained by a variety of events every night.

The property was clean and the service was excellent. Special mention to the head chef and staff at dining. The food was excellent at or above international standards. I loved the food and drinks here along with excellent customer service. Looking forward to coming back here and enjoying the wonderful hospitality of this place!!

Staff were amazing Rooms large but the floor gets slippy with the humidity Shampoo conditioner body lotion and shower gel Free re stock of fridge every other day with pop and juice and water tea coffee

Cleanliness, food, pools and most important the staff. Always attentive, eager to help, smiling and look like they enjoy themselves while Mali g you very welcome. The dining room and specially crew were great. The pool crew did an excellent job. Room was clean by wonderful attentive personnel.

We liked the stuff and services. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. Rooms were perfectly clean. Food was tasty and the drinks were good. In front of the hotel you can find some Tuk Tuks to visit ambient locations. For rainy days you can also use the indoor jacuzzis and steam bath.

Fantastic beach. This hotel is the worst riu I’ve been at. We didn’t sleep at all due to the barking dogs in the street. The restaurants called a la carte at actually buffets as well and were limited in their operation. The staff was courteous and kind. The cleaning was done well. The location too close to a main road is a serious problem here through

We went for this hotel based on the trust in the Riu brand, location, all inclusive basis and general good reviews. Overall the hotel was very good. We’d stop short of rating it as excellent based on some of the amenities looking / feeling slightly tired - probably on the basis of having been worked hard. Some key thoughts; We visited during the Middle East war / crisis and consequently the hotel was much quieter than normal. Therefore everything felt more spacious, less crowded and easier to access. We wondered how our very good experience might of been if the hotel had been close to full as we were told is the normally the case. The food was outstanding - particularly for an all inclusive. The choices were broad and quality excellent. The themed restaurants were also superb and easy to book. The Pan Asian and Sauté restaurants were particularly good. The staff were brilliant, so polite, helpful and curtious - a real credit to the hotel and Riu. There were 3 big pools but only one with an easy bar access which was also strictly (and enforced) adults only. That suited us but with parties including under 18s may be an inconvenience and something to consider. The rooms were big, clean with functional facilities and simple decor designs. The hotel is right on a stunning public beach. You can swim but need to take care due to big waves and strong currents. Overall, we’ve done lots of all inclusives and this one is defiibately up there as one of the better we’ve experienced!

I booked 3 rooms for 2 nights. Positive: * Staff was very professional and very attentive. * Place was big with lots of activities * Food was good. Buffets have a lot of choice. * service was excellent * clean rooms Negative: * resort was way overcrowded. *Adult pool was overcrowded and dirty. * Pool had 80% men staring at us the whole time * People swimming in pool with regular cloths on. * drinks and cocktails selection are limited with them being watered down. * no bathroom or bed room amenities. * beach access no life guard and when you step on to the beach you get harrased by locals. Overall it will be a great place if they only allow people who stay overnight and not allow anyone on day pass. Cost of everything is a bit too high for resorts in Sri lanka.

My family and I had an incredible 14-night stay at RIU Ahungalla in late July and August. After flying into London and taking the roughly two-hour drive from Colombo Airport, we arrived at 8:00 AM. Check-in was fast and efficient. Even though we were early, the staff gave us wristbands so we could grab a much-needed breakfast and enjoy the clean, well-maintained pools right away. We received our two requested quiet, adjacent rooms with sea views by 11:00 AM. They were spacious, spotless, and came equipped with great air conditioning, large bathrooms, balcony ocean views, and daily refreshed mini-bars. Because it wasn't peak season, the hotel was never overcrowded, and we never had to wake up early to reserve a sunbed. The food was the absolute highlight of the trip—especially the main buffet, which was so exceptional we actually looked forward to every meal. The variety, labeling, and incredible Indian dishes surpassed any restaurant standards. The drinks selection at the bars was great, including local Lion beer on draught, and while the Italian restaurant was fine, the buffet couldn't be beaten. Every single staff member—from reception and the buffet to the bars and entertainment team—was remarkably polite, friendly, and brilliant at their job. We loved the evening entertainment, including the ABBA, Fusion, and Bollywood shows. The resort maintained faultless cleanliness throughout, It was an flawless stay, and I cannot fault a single aspect of this hotel.
