The entire Hacienda was magnificent. I’ve stayed in some pretty nice places, but this place was next level. It’s amazingly preserved, holds the charm and character of history everywhere you look. The staff are so nice and I can’t speak Spanish but we had lots of fun using the iPhone translators. The horses and animals are well kept and healthy, the owner Monica whom I got to meet and spend time with, made me feel part of their Mexican family :)

The property was adorable and unique. It was surrounded by beautiful antiques that took me back to yesteryear. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating and we all had a magnificent experience at the health spa where we were treated like royalty. I will to return and stay at a different room every single time. Congratulations to the owners on such an exceptional property and unique surroundings.

This a beautiful Hacienda from the 16th century with a building from the 18th century. Very well kept and maintained, clean all around. However, expect a lot of critters since it is located in a rural area. Some staff were nice and others were indifferent and less helpful.

This was my third stay, and each time, the experience somehow becomes even more extraordinary. The property itself is breathtaking, a beautifully preserved masterpiece that transports you to another era. But what truly makes it unforgettable is the people. The owner personally connects with each guest, and the entire team embodies genuine warmth and impeccable service. It’s a level of hospitality that feels almost lost in today’s fast-paced world. Mornings are extra special with the sounds of the birds, horseback rides through the serene grounds, interacting with the donkeys and geese, and the stillness of nature around us. The spa is beyond indulgent, offering treatments that melt away stress in one sitting. And the food? Absolutely divine! Every meal is a masterpiece, showcasing the rich flavors of Mexico in the most exquisite way. Just over an hour from Guadalajara, this is more than a getaway, it’s a sanctuary! If you're searching for a place to truly unwind, recharge, and be immersed in authentic Mexican hospitality, look no further. Hacienda El Carmen is simply paradise.

This property is my retreat when trying to disconnect and recharge! Let me say that this place isn’t for everyone! It’s a place for resting, so curfew is 11:00PM to allow every guest to rest. I love this! The property itself is a historic landmark, well preserved with modern upgrades done tastefully and practically. Air conditioned rooms, pool, jacuzzi, spa, gym, restaurant, bar, horseback riding, gaming tables etc. the rooms are exquisitely decorated with the charm of the era, and a couple of tasting bottles of the house made rum awaits on arrival along with snacks. The property also offers free tours of their rum distillery to guests along with rum tasting. The restaurant is fantastic! The menu changes daily so it allows you to taste several dishes during an extended stay. Their T-bone steak, jicama ceviche, guac and carrot cream soup were incredible! Hospitality here is above and beyond! Every member of the staff from the reception to the restaurant, spa and stables is serviceable and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure every guests has a great experience. The pool is nice and warm to spend the day relaxing. The spa is addictive with treatments that leave you wanting for more. Mary was my therapist twice an did a fantastic job! My favorite was the hot stone massage, but heard from friends the facials were the best they’ve had. We love animals so having horses available daily for riding and visiting with the farm animals was so much fun. So much soul!
