"I loved the actual hotel and the rooms and overall property is fantastic! The only complaint I had was the service at the bar/restaurant aren't the best. They only had 1 person who could speak English and the staff seemed generally a little unfriendly. We made jokes "this is the time of the night where we get yelled at by the staff". They always seemed like we were bothering them to ask a drink etc. I think if you are Italian you get better service. That said, overall the stay was a joy! "

"This was a very good hotel with a lovely swimming pool and the added bonus of a jacuzzi. Cleanliness was excellent with rooms being serviced daily to a high standard. Breakfast was good and all staff friendly and welcoming. The complimentary shuttle bus to the port was a nice extra."

"We stayed four nights and loved this place! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. The terrace on the roof was a nice place to spend time in the afternoon and evening, but it was too hot in the morning without any way to block the morning sun."

"This is an excellent family-owned hotel with fabulous decor just a 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal. It's location about 3 minutes from the main street means it's nice and quiet. There is a fabulous breakfast from 7:30 each day. The bar is open (on request) all the time, and someone on the desk 24 hours. The staff are very helpful, with excellent English. "This is our third time at Mari del Sud in the past six years, and unfortunately, we’ve noticed it’s slowly declining. It’s a pity, because the resort has such great potential, so close to the sea and the beautiful Sabbie Nere beach and head a beautiful swimming pool. One major downside is the lack of a transfer service from the harbor to the hotel. We had the service during previous stays, and most hotels and resorts on the island of Vulcano still offer it. Although the receptionist said the hotel is walkable, I wouldn’t recommend it if you're traveling with elderly people, as I was. We ended up having to call a taxi for both directions, which cost €15 each way. Breakfast is good and the staff do their best, but the number of waiters is insufficient for the volume of guests. The swimming pool opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m., so if you're an early riser or looking to unwind after an excursion, it’s disappointing to find the pool closed. Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily, which is appreciated, though again the limited number of staff means your room might be serviced late in the day, often when you're back for a siesta. I really hope Mari del Sud will go back being the resort everybody used to love."

"I loved this property! Rooms were spacious and very clean. Beautiful pool area. The food at the pool bar was delicious and fresh! I wish we had eaten dinner at the hotel too. Breakfast was perfect with variety of choices. Staff were incredibly helpful and informative. I hope to return to Lipari and will stay here again for sure."

"It's hard to describe this hotel is like stepping into the 70s with so much charm. The restaurant was lovely for dinner watching the sunset. Breakfast was ok, a good choice of options. Walk to town was easy down driveway across volcanic rock beach and up a street on otherside, Then was quite flat to get around town centre. Water off the hotel is amazing, and pool warm and lovely. Rooms are definitely older style but space was good. We will be back, loved it with all of its quirks!"
