"Weird but friendly"
Excellent location for sightseeing although in our case it was for family visiting. Our first room was noisy and really only suitable for one person with minimal privacy for the WC etc However the staff found us a much nicer room the next day and were very helpful. The décor and lighting are much too dark and the remote switches didn't work well. Although it was August and hot; the A/C lowest temp was 19C. The housekeeping was good. We didn't try the restaurant but it seemed popular and quite noisy.

"Beautiful building with an old feel to it."
The first thing that struck me about the hotel was it's resemblance to an old museum. The interior is beautiful: really special. The bathroom was so gorgeous. It had curtains on the outside of the bath, and the bath was deep enough to go past my shoulders while I sat upright! There's also plenty of room for two, with surface space on either end for a glass of wine ;) The lighting was a bit dim, but it just added to the romantic and old fashioned atmosphere. I would say that it's best to request a room at the back if you find it difficult to sleep with noise. The front is quite noisy as the hotel is on a main road. The staff were so freindly and eager to please. They left a plate of biscuits in my room with a birthday message. Also, there are real coffee machines in the rooms! Fabulous.

"Clean apartment in convenient location"
The apartment was well-furnished and clean. The company representative met us on time and was pleasant and helpful. We (couple travelling with two teenage kids) would definitely consider staying here if back in Amsterdam. Stairs are steep but I think this is to be expected in Amsterdam.

"A bit tired and rundown"
Pros: - Centrally located - reasonably spacious - Good washing machine and tumble dryer - Nice bathroom/shower Cons: - On a very busy junction (inc a tram line) - Sofa bed broken and stained (...) - Kitchen * No sockets to plug in kettle toaster etc so need to place on a stool... * Most complicated oven and microwave we have ever seen - and no manual. * Not enough crockery and cutlery Overall the place looks on the tired side and in need of some TLC.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam De Pijp 4 stars Hotels

The Pipe' (its derivation is a mystery) is a quiet residential suburb with a cosmopolitan bohemian air thanks to a large number of immigrants and the recent gentrification of the area by an arty crowd. Running through the centre, the daily Albert Cuyp Market is the largest in the city. De Pijp is also renowned for its restaurants which serve some of Amsterdam's best ethnic (Syrian, Moroccan, Surinamese, Turkish etc) food.
