Taxi Could not even drive to hotel and had to drop us at an intersection for a rickshaw to take us to hotel. After several attempts the ricky could not even reach the hotel. Customer service is POOR and Phone calls to the hotels phone were UNANSWERED so we were forced to find another hotel. I was not able to get back a full rebate

A welcoming and scenic launching point
We had an excellent stay at the hotel Sita. The staff treated us like family, from helping organize a guide to lead us to the hotel from the Main Street, to helping us schedule an all-day tour of Varanasi starting at six AM the next day with an excellent tour guide. We had arrived late at night and had not booked a tour in advance, but the hotel has a number of trusted guides and we were able to start a tour the next day at 5:30 AM. I can strongly recommend Diamond, who led us to burn famous and special out of the way locations over a two day tour. I was aware that the room and building were historic and was not expecting the same bland experience as in a new western style hotel, what I did get is a perfectly comfortable room with two large clean mattresses, and most amazingly, an unimpeded view of the River Ganges and one of the historic ghats literally at the doorstep of the hotel. The bathroom was clad in marble with a full size tub and sink. The entire room serves as a shower and is very roomy. Additionally, the food at the rooftop cafe was excellent. We enjoyed fresh lime soda, ginger chai, Indian style omelettes and more. We actually never had a need to take meals anywhere else and the rooftop view and outdoor seating were spectacular. The location in proximity to the center of historic Varanasi was excellent for visiting many of the most famous ghats, taking boat rides, shopping and getting lost (on purpose) in the timeless back alleys.

Great location, amazing views of the river, a perfect place to stay in Varansi. The hotel is located walking distance away from the main ghats which is quiet convenient, at the same time the ghat on which it is located is quieter to spend time relaxing by the river Ganga. The only challenge is approach, no vehicle is permitted beyond a certain point, I recommend you reach out to hotel in advance to ensure you know how to reach there or organize transport from the hotel

Perfect location.
my room was on the 4th floor, but no problem because they have lift. A room with an awesome view but wifi was very weak almost didn't work during my stay. Location is perfect.

don't stay here!
we chose this hotel because of its location on the ghats local area was fascinating hotel staff friendly but hotel condition poor, in no way 2.5 star our ''deluxe'' was awful --- old, in need of repair, rusty metal bathroom door, stained wash basin & toilet No soap nor toilet paper cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, & I don't think Hotels.com should advertise it

wonderful view of the river ganges.
The hotel looks a little worn from the outside. Inside there is a bit of concrete, however the room was in really good condition. there is a wonderful panorama view directly to the river Ganges … you are literally on the banks of the Ganges river. Be aware, there is no road to the hotel, so there is a walk of about 500 meters from the closet place a car or auto can drop you.

Hotel is hard to find and not clean
The hotel’s location is not accessible by taxi/car. The taxi has to stop at 1-2 km away and you will have to walk for 10-20 minutes in some narrow roads before you find the hotel. If you really want to stay in this hotel, I would suggest you contact the hotel to arrange for transport. The towels and bed sheets are not clean.

Perfect Location
Excellent location but room very small and old. A young guy tries to get you on a boat tour which we did but then overcharged but refused to pay boatman. Avoid Brown Bread bakery as they kick the dogs. If you call them they will meet you at the road and guide you to the hotel.

If you would like to view the mighty Gangaji, in all its majesty, right below the balcony/window of your room, then Sita Guest House (SGH) is the place. The ambience of this place is rustic; the open Dining Room (on the roof) can be very hot at this time of the year; the room would be cleaned ONLY if you demand and the price of the food is exorbitant, BUT the Staff is extraordinary in their efforts to serve you, the food is definitely tasty and the views from the room/roof is simply out-of-this-world! A word of caution though --- SGH is about a mile from the nearest motor-able road and have to be reached by walking through narrow, twisting, cobbled-stoned lanes. While you will certainly get somebody from SGH to carry one of your luggage, the remaining have to be lugged by yourself. This is understandable considering the fact that the Ghat area of Varanasi has been historically accessible only on foot. Thus, travel light AND travel in the Winters, if SGH is your stay. The trade off to this apparent discomfort is the nearness to all the Ghats (hence a daily dip in Gangaji), Temples (Viswanath, Annapurna, Vishalakshi) and to shops for the famed Benarasi Lassi-Malai-Rabri AND to the numerous Weaver-joints for the famed Benarasi Sarees/Silks. SGH, if requested, can provide a Staff member to escort for visits to Temples/Shops/Weavers etc. SGH's Manager, Mr Manoj is a forthright, transparent, cooperative and a no-nonsense man. All in all, SGH shall be a memorable experience.

Excellent location in front of river but....
if you want to have a true experience of Varanasi, this hotel is for you. its located in fromt of the river, directly at the action but cleanliness is poor, comfort is not good.

A Room With an Amazing View of the Ganga River
If you want to be close to the ghats and the Ganga River, then Sita Guest house is for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are a little small, but they are clean and comfortable. You literally can walk out the front entrance to this guest house down to the river. I found the staff friendly and easy to work with.

View of the Ganges
Great location, new lift a real bonus. But the bathroom needs a good scrub with bleach. The beds are hard. But the staff are very helpful, especially the man who organises day activities. I would go back!

It's hard to find a good place in Varanasi that's why I was very happy when I found the Ganga view room in Sita guest house.very good location too and friendly stuff - they will help you with everything you might need! Recommended

Amazing hotel guide
Had a great stay at Sita guest house, the hotel manager Rakesh does walking tours and shows all the insites to Varanasi That you wouldn’t see as a tourist. he also organised boat trip at a very good price, same with with taxi to airport, trust him he’s not in it for the money he’s a genuine nice man.

Awesome Hotel in the Craziness of Varanasi
My 4 nights here were great, the staff were friendly and helpfull and the room basic but all that was needed to sleep and shower , the rooftop restaurant/bar was a great place to sit back and have a cold beer or two/three ....and enjoy the view of the Ganges, had a few meals there but the food not too good at all, but great place for beers !!! Location could not have been better as right on the Raja Ghat and minutes walk to main Dash Ghat with nighty Aarti ceremony and to the night markets and numerous really good restaurants .... Taxi service to and from Airport was prompt and a great idea as it can be hard to find first off as the car can only take you so far and then you have to walk a little bit of the way (bout 5 minutes of easy walking) to Sita Guest house thru the narrow lanes that are so Varanasi and an awesome place to roam and explore just watch out for the bulls and those horns !! ... So for first timers , i think the Airport pick up service is the only way to go !! Would definitely stay here again and again as perfect location with friendly and very accommodating staff and great beer rooftop !!

Good guesthouse along the ganges river. Close to all the action along the ghats with good roof top view. Hotel staff ate nice and accomodating. Food at resturant is basic but its good and cheap. Room is basic but good. Bathroom is old but its everything you need for a basic guesthouse stay close to everything.

Great location.
We stayed in one of their budget rooms, which was fine. The more expensive rooms with a/c and views looked very nice. Rooftop restaurant was good, great views. There was an uncovered bit and another covered area, kinda like a cage to keep the bug eating monkeys out. Indian food was good, although more expensive than restaurants close by. Staff were helpful. Would stay again.

Nice hotel overlooking river
Staff were really nice and upgraded my room. Helped with planning a couple of trips while I was in Varanasi. Situated right on the river. Food at the restaurant was good though slightly limited as it was the quiet time of year for tourists. Spectacular view from roof top.

Great little we'll run hotel with great views
Nice little hotel right next to the main gnat where the nightly ceremony's are held. Easy walk to the burning ghats. Ask for room with balcony great views over the Ghats and the River. Go as far as you can in Auton Rickshaw then walk diwn the narrow always dragging your case behind you 10 min walk if you don't know your way their are several signs painted on walks as you negotiate the alleyways with the hotels name and arrow pointing the way. Don't believe when it says 200 yards 400 yards etc they measured with a elastic tape mesure just keep following the signs and asking the locals most know the hotel Do not let the Auti Rickshaw Driver take you to the river to take a boat down to the hotel by river it's a long way down many steep steps with suitecases the boat men will ask crazy prices and all refuse to take you for normal cost when they see you arrive with suitcases and bags etc also they charge crazy prices for carrying your cases onto the hotel we were quoted 1500R £15 Crazy obviously refused Normal cost of 1 hour boat is 300 to 500R £3 -£5

First off Scammers!!!!!! Wi fi does not work in rooms and was having a lot of trouble staying on, and did not work on the roof top. Restaurant upstairs was okay. Room was big but facilities and cleanliness overall was lacking. Also I'm pretty sure we got scammed on the way out when leaving to the airport. We paid 1,500 rupees to go to Sarnath and then the airport, and our driver just took us straight to the airport . The hotel would not pick up our calls and that was the last of our money. Good thing I had an emergency $20 dollars to give the taxi driver to take us to Sarnath and then back to the airport since we had 6 hours before boarding. The owner seemed nice but altogether the people there seemed shady!!!!!!!

Great Ganga view from the King room. Excellent hospitality by their ear saurav, and manager Mr Pande! However, I could not complete my stay as the hotel is going through major renovation, and the upper floors are infested with rats and lizards! Need extermination.....seemed very unhygienic surroundings! Walking up the steep stairs to the 4th floor , in addition to the stairs to go to the ghats was just too much! An elevator is likely in the future, but not now!

This place makes a perfect start for all your activities round town, the staff is friendly, the rooftop restaurant offers nice views and the food is good, prepared with heart. The rooms have seen better days but the price justifies the means, try to go for a room facing the river, nice balconies attached to watch the sunrise.

A very pleasant and comfort stay
I stayed in this hotel during my VNS visit. This hotel is right on bank of Ganges and location os perfect if you want to enjoy a quiet and serene evening at Ghats. You will get a perfect view from room balcony and roof top restaurant. Staffs were really good and helping. We had dinner at Roof top cafeteria and believe me it was amazing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our sumptuous dinner with backdrop of Ganga river. It was so beautiful. I still recall that dinner with big smile at my face. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone. You'll enjoy your stay here.

Under construction!
Make no mistake, this hotel is currently undergoing major renovation and the guest experience is impacted by it. When I complained I was told that there would be "no bang bang" only "light plastering" during our stay, in fact they were knocking out brick walls and hosing/flooding hallways. I asked for free breakfast due to the fact that their advertisement was so misleading and they threw in an omelette and toast. It is right on the river about 10 min from the main ghat, but there is no "superior room" here. It's old, worn down, and not very clean. I wouldn't pay more than 1500 rupees and that's only because of location. Rooftop restaurant is a great view with mediocre food. The manager (?) did help us with some travel arrangements for which of course we paid a fee.

Great guide and location on the river.
The hotel is under reconstruction and it looks like a bomb blew out the front facing rooms to the river. Our deluxe room might have had decent facilities on paper but it was poorly cleaned, the fridge needed the electricals fixed and had many steps to get up to the fifth floor restaurant. Had breakfast three times and it was a banana pancake and it was very good but the menu is higher priced than other places in the "Hood". Their guide was excellent, Jusnu, and the staff try hard.

Nice location in the Ganga.
Nice location. Room is OK. Remember to book those rooms with river view. It is not easy to find the hotel if you are the first time to be there.
