Challenge your senses when you step from the heat of Dubai into the fresh powder snow of on the city’s signature attractions. Ski Dubai is as close as you can get to a ski resort without heading up into the mountains. You’ll find a selection of slopes and jumps for all abilities, as well as a fun-packed snow park, all under this 22,500 square metre dome.
The snow is made by spraying cooled water out of snow guns attached to the ceiling. This freezes into crystals the moment it comes into contact with the chilled air. It goes without saying that you’ll need to wrap up warm, as the temperature is kept between - 1 and +2 degrees. Special clothing and equipment is included in the price of the ticket, so you won’t need to worry about bringing jackets, ski pants, skis, poles or ski boots, which even come with disposable socks. The only things that are not provided are hats and gloves, but you can buy these in the equipment shop.
Once you are kitted out and ready to go, there are five ski runs of varying lengths and gradients to choose from, so whatever your skill level, you will find a slope to suit you. The longest run reaches 400 metres. If you are a beginner, book into one of the free group lessons on offer. Snowboarders will love the Freestyle Zone with plenty of challenging jumps and rails.
For young children, or those who prefer to stay off the slopes, the Snow Park is the place to go. Try the exhilarating bobsled runs and tobogganing hills, or head to the snow cavern filled with snow-based games. Make sure you catch the free March of the Penguins show where Gentoo and king penguins parade on the ice.
There are two on-site dining options, including the themed Avalanche café at the slope’s mid-station.
Ski Dubai is located at the Mall of the Emirates in the New Dubai area. There are more than 7,000 free parking spaces should you choose to drive, or you can travel by bus or metro. The attraction is open daily.
