I have been ripped off by the Sheraton. The quoted price. For my stay for two days was $255.05. USD On my arrival. Which was very late 2:00 am the morning. This was because my plane was two hours, late taking off from Brisbane. And we missed the connecting flight. The night manager. Swiped my Visa card. He said it was only for 1,839.98 Local currency. The problem is they have taken out of my visa account. $$548.77. Aud. When I challenged him. On my checkout. He could not answer it. But said Expedia would refund the money to me. There is an outstanding balance of $157.92 AU D. Owing to me. Who's paying it?

Poor location in scruffy part of town long taxi drive to the Bund and tourist areas. Bar with no atmosphere and no choice of spirits. Needs refurb. Visited other hotels in city centre with vibrant atmosphere very disappointed that my trip to this wonderful city was blighted by my poor choice of hotel

Grand entrance and excellent modern facilities! If you are expecting welcome with a smile, you would be a bit disappointed! Maybe because of the language/smile barrier! But most of the staff at the LOBBY are quick in responding, polite, curt and firm in conversation. Breakfast is NOT free with the room booking, though it has very wide range of items on the buffet! View from room and the spacious bathroom and elegant main room was great, though my room carpet was heavily stained at places! Overall great 'rich' experience!

Great hotel. Eventually you can find someone that speaks pretty good English. Room service Royale burger is the best! Hotel bar prices are steep so it is usually empty. Love the location. Turn right leaving the hotel to Deping Rd. where you will find several small restaurants and a Family Mart which is excellent. Outside near family mart is a bus stop and there you can catch the airport bus direct to Pudong airport for two bucks. (also from the airport to Deping Rd.) Take long distance bus line 4 from the airport first stop is Deping Rd. Also across the street from the hotel is a city bus stop. Bus 971 or bus 799 will take you to the pearl tower area. It's the final stop for either of those two busses. The return bus stop is in front of the hotel. I've been staying at this hotel for years. Keep your head on a swivel for electric scooters. They are everywhere. You can't hear them coming.

The hotel lobby is nice and the staff were friendly. The room though felt outdated and had an old smell to it. The area around the hotel is not nice and there were scammers outside the hotel lobby.

Not convenient location. Takes 45 mins to get taxi
The staff (maybe one of them) is opportunitistic and I did get cheated by the boys in concierge once. At first I thought they were helping me order some food for us. Eventually when the food came, he said he had already paid and informed us an amount that was 50% higher than the actual amount. When I asked for the invoice, he said there was no invoice with the delivery. Also the wifi is ancient!!! Speed is horrible and barely works. Very disappointed for the standards Wyndham maintains worldwide.

Hotel With a View
It is a very nice hotel. Although this is an old hotel, it was well maintained thus still stood up elegantly. You can see the wear and tare at some area of the hotel, but they were fixed and/replaced with modern style, especially in the room. This hotel has a remarkable view of a bridge connecting the new business district and the Bund of Shanghai. The window in my room opens up to toward the river and so I could see the bridge and river. At night, the bridge light up the sky along with the city. The drawback, however, this hotel is far from shopping center. Transportation required to go places.

Absolutely superb experience - Luxurious!
I was there on a business trip for 5 nights and had a wonderfully pleasant experience. This was my first time in Shanghai so i wasn't quiet sure of what i would get. Location is a bit far from city centre but then again taxi service in Shanghai is very cheap and if you are out of busy hours the roads are comfortable and predictable in terms of journey times. The hotel offers great views from top floors for the Shanghai city (not really the skyline as is a bit away from centre) but still good enough. The rooms are large and very clean - the staff understand and speak good english and the buffet breakfast is very good as well.

The room was excellent with wonderful beds and a large bathroom. It was very quiet. The housekeeping did a great job, it was evident that they received a good training. The pool and gym are a bit old, but not too disgusting to use. Some Chinese will smoke on the non-smoking floors, which is still common in mainland China. About the location: make sure you can arrange your own transportation, and know how to use food/laundry delivery in Shanghai. The subway is too far and taxis are not plenty around. There is a new subway line under construction in front of the hotel which causes traffic jam every day. The Wifi was slow and cable connection costs extra. Upon check in the hotel charges the full stay plus an unusually large deposit, so make sure your credit card can cover it, esp. if you stay a week or longer. Overall a good experience because of the excellent room. We used Uber and the staff helped us communicate in Chinese, so the location didn't become a problem. You can see American Airlines and Aeroflot crews every day and admire their fancy uniforms.

Overall, the stay is still acceptable. The room is really nice and spacious. The hotel decor look really premium. However, the quality of service of all the staffs (from restaurants to front counter) really need to be revamped. I almost want to rate it horrible for a so called 5-star hotel!

The room looked like a luxury room but the carpeting was filthy, the overview states that the hotel has pay movies, no, the overview states central location and close to financial district. Not, the neighborhood is not good. To go anywhere you need a taxi, to get to a subway station you need a taxi. While this may have been a great hotel at one time, it is not anything like the overview for the hotel.

The hotel is clean, room was nice. The location was not designed for foreigners. The management is penny wise and dollar fool. The Executive lounge would be rated under average when compared to other American chains. The only way of moving around was Taxies. The Metro station was far. I won’t stay there again!

My favorite hotel in Shanghai
This is my favorite hotel in Shanghai. The bedroom is very nice and comfortable that sometimes you just want to stay in the room the whole day. I will always stay at this hotel everytime I am in Shanghai.

It's not bad, but not great. It's a new hotel and so still in decent condtion, but they never have enough staff at the front desk to handle even a small line. Also, the surrounding neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. However, you can find some good deals here when other hotels closer to the exhibition center are jacking up their rates.

Overall it is a very nice hotel but the location is inconvenient in relation to major points in Shanghai. I had problems locating a taxi that was familiar with the location and was willing to travel in that direction. The breakfast buffet is rather expensive but is less if purchased upon arrival to the hotel instead of paying at the resturaunt.

Hotel staff were very friendly and the rooms are very comfortable. The bathrooms are rather lush with a deep bathroom complete with tv screen at the end and also amazing wide rainfall shower. Not a lot to do in the local area if by foot but very easy to hop a 10 min taxi into the action.
