We had a chance to rest, eat well and get organized before leaving China for Canada.
This hotel had all the amenities, and it was clean and well organized. We did have trouble printing our boarding pass at the business office.
"Great Hotel for a longer business stay in Shanghai"
I recently stayed 5 days in this hotel and found it to be a delight. The service was fantastic and the Gym was exceptional, it was like a 2nd home. Staff were attentive but not intrusive and any request was quickly attended to. The room was spacious and comfortable, I was in Tower 1, a renovated room.

A good stay for business trips. Well first off, i booked a superior room online and at the time of check in in Shanghai, i was given a suite. I'll get to the pros and cons directly.
Very comfortable and spacious room
Timely Room Service
24h room service menu
Free 1mbps wifi ... 3 devices at a time ... !! :D
Easy availability of taxi and very good location.
Bit pricey on the breakfast menu, considering the fact that chinese food would come bottom of my favorite cuisine.
Wouldve opted for free breakfast than the suite upgrade.
Had to redirect to the reception everytime i needed to communicate in english to anyone in the hotel.

I was looking for a hotel in the area that would be clean, easy to use, and not cost hundreds of dollars. The Grand Mercure was perfect. Free wifi, good working space in the room, and even a laundry machine in the room for extended stays. Highly recommended for foreign visitors who want a hotel they don't have to worry about at a good price.
The staff was amazing. They would walk out to the street and call us a cab while we waited in the lobby, then told the cab driver where we wanted to go in chinese, even looking up our desired destinations online if they did not know exactly where they were. Always opened doors and carried our bags. The room was a little small, but was very new and clean. The only negative about the hotel is that it is too far to walk to the subway. You will need to spend around 16-18 yuan ($2.5-3) for a cab to the nearest subway station (Jinqiao Rd).
