Pleasant perfection
My husband and I are from the states and after traveling so far, it was great to call this little spot "Home". Karl & Maryanne (our hosts) were very kind and friendly. They made sure we knew all about the property and even offered ideas on things to do in the local area. Their little space was perfect for our busy travel itinerary in the bay of plenty. Comfortable, and location was central to all our adventures. We are already planning our return trip. Looking forward to staying here again!

The homeowners, Carl and Maryanne, they were accommodating and easy to get in touch with. The property was clean and had everything you would need. I would recommend staying here.

Nice stay, lovely hosts a bit closer to the owners property then expected, but I was out most of the time anyway. About 10mins out of city centre which was good. Comfortable bed but don’t leave anything sweet out, I had ants in my juice. Overall lovely stay and thank you for the treats.

Wonderfully cosy
Very cosy and warm. Our favourite element of the accomodation was the walkway to the lake. I went there everyday for my morning coffee. The bed is so comfy! We loved staying here Maryanne and Karl were fantastic hosts!

A nice cozy little unit thats perfect for 3-4 days stay. Quiet neighbourhood.
Exceptionally friendly hosts with a lot of interesting knowledge. Nice little property which backs onto a walkway that leads to the lake. Loved hearing the native birds in chorus 😊

Perfect in every way
Maryanne and Karl are the perfect hosts, going out of their way to ensure guests have a comfortable and trouble-free stay. Their concern for guests’ welfare is high on their list of priorities. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and are more than happy to help in any way possible. The accommodation is immaculate and a perfect base to explore Rotorua and the surrounding area.

Very friendly welcome and helpful hosts.
We really enjoyed returning to 'Thistle Do' and seeing Maryanne and Karl again. The accommodation is very handy to everything. The lake is just a very pleasant walk away. Our favorite cafe (Cafe Baroco) was just a five minute drive. We enjoyed a dinner and two breakfasts there and excellent coffee!

Small but perfectly formed, with the loveliest owners.
Thistle Do Retreat is exactly as it looks in the photos. It is compact but is comfortable and was spotlessly clean, especially the bathroom. The owners are the most lovely couple and we were very warmly welcomed and made to feel special guests. They kindly allowed us use of their lockable garage, which was much appreciated for our bikes. Undercover parking provided for our car. We felt safe and told to knock on their door should we need anything. The kitchenette is more of a well equipped kitchen cupboard, including microwave, kettle & toaster, with a fridge underneath a small worktop. Everything was in excellent order, and with some lovely treats left by the owners. Used crockery is washed by the owners and returned. The window has a flyscreen (yes!) and a fan is provided. A couple of minutes down the road is a bike track directly into the CBD - a short ride and very handy after Eat Street! We think Thistle Do is good value for money, even without us making use of the river access through the property. We stayed 3 nights and would happily stay again between 1 and 3 nights. Recommended for 1-2 guests who want to be out and about enjoying Rotorua rather than sitting in their accomodation all day.
