Nice hotel and room
Large and comfortable room. Excellent facilities. Location was good. Only issue was that the hotel was a non-smoking hotel and our room smelled of recent smokers.

Canal Suites Critique, Positive
I have been comfortable at this establishment. The staff, mostly, is friendly and it is convenient to be next to the T3b tram line to reach central Paris. The breakfast is way overpriced, but everyone has their own customs regarding that...if you can ascertain a competitive price, I would recommend the Canal Suites Hotel.They also have a fitness center which is great for people who like to stay active during vacation or business trips.

It smelled of smoke and some the staff was not that friendly! The language barrier made it more difficult. The hotel is in a quaint but rundown neighborhood. I wish they were not rated a 3.7 on Expedia, this place is more like a 1.5!

I had an experience where I was painfully injured and the man at the front desk Mr.Moussa took very good care of me in his best ability, as I was crying in pain, he spent half an hour trying to contact SAMU or the ambulance services to help me and he was very patient and supportibe. I will always appreciate his kindness and professionalism.

The studio apartment smelled of cigarettes when I checked in. The bed was really uncomfortable, there was a collapsible sofa-bed. There were big cigarette burns both on the carpet and on the bed. The WIFI was absolutely unusable. I had to check-out one day earlier because I couldn't make online calls (I came for work purposes). The internet was so slow that I couldn't watch videos or even properly browse on the internet. Very disappointed with my stay.

The property was nice for a stay in Paris. The bed is a sofa bed but was comfortable. There is a kitchenette and they provide Potts, plates and sliver wear. We did not get to use it but it is perfect if you want to save some money by going to a nearby supermarket or farmers market. It was also located next to a tram that had a stop near a mall with lots of entertainment and places to eat. There was also a metro near by to get to the city. It is an older hotel so the carpets had some stains and there were some weird smells in the hallways at times. Housekeeping came in and cleaned up often. The staff was friendly, knew English, and were available 24/7. The hotel was a great place to come and rest after exploring Paris. Overall, a pleasant stay.

This property smell really , really bad. Very heavy smoking smell in the room. Carpet in the room had lots of huge stains, very disgusting looking. The hallways were just as aweful, smell bad, look bad. The property overall looks like a run down, old apartment building. This is a 1 star property. I DO NOT RECOMMEND

A few days in Paris...
The hotel is in a working class neighborhood, but close to tram and subway stops. The room was small but comfortable and well equipped with a kitchenette.

Cleaning service was daily, new towels, bed made, bathroom seemed to be washed. The staff was kind to print me tickets upon request. Kitchenette and fridge in the room was dated but good. I didn't like that the AC was always off. Had to go down to reception and tell them it was broken. They would fix it, it would work for 3 hr and shut down again. Everyday I had to ask them to restart it, and only half the people at reception knew how.

The hotel room is equipped with fully functional microwave to heat up supermarket bought food, and comes with stove and clean cooking utencils with plates and bowls. This is a very nice touch. The only fall back is the shower head spoiled this water coming out of the shower head inconsistent and water spraying direction goes everywhere, air conditioning isn't working thus opening the window during early spring night is ok, bed is actually a sofa converted bed this ready for some metal squeaking night. Overall, it's a good stay provided you come during winter else without the cold air from the opened window the room will be very warm.

Overall my spouse and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is within walking distance of the Metro. The area around the hotel felt quite safe and has many different Pâtisserie shops available if you enjoy sweets. We enjoyed the size of the room we were in, and the fact that the room had dishes, utensils, and a fridge. Guests trying to budget may find this great as there are many grocery stores close by where you can pick up food and eat inside the room, this way saving a little money. My spouse and I were very happy with our stay.

I liked: The location The ease of access was great Very quiet rooms Windows that open fully to the sounds of lovely birds Nice bathroom flooring Very clean bathrooms Elevator was small but swift Staff wasn’t present as much but they were nice What I Didn’t Like: The beds were HORRIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE! The floors in the rooms smelled like mildew and were dirty-They should just get rid of the carpet altogether The hotel ran out of tissue, soap, and towels during our stay-we asked for more but were told no. There should be more people that speak English that work there at least one in staff at night and during the day. Also the reconstruction of the building is unappealing. There was construction in the opening of the building with plastic on the floors and construction outside of the building. Overall, there needs to be a theme for the hotel...an identifiable branding. There could be REALLY great potential in this place if they took the time to do extensive upgrades.

Old building and the bed was a pull out couch. Its a quick walk to the metro but factor in 30/45 minute transit to get anywhere in paris. Courteous staff helped when we had power issues. Dont be confused there are two hotels the check in desk for Canal is ground floor.

We asked for a double bed and not a sofa bed but got a sofa bed instead. When we asked for it to be changed the front desk staff said if you have used the room we cannot change it after first saying that he would if we got a sofa bed while receiving the keys during check in.The room is fine but was no where close to what was shown in the pics online with big stains on the carpet and in general had lost its shine. The wifi was painfully slow as well. Also they were happy to take a 20 euro deposit for the iron but had no iron board. he room had a small kitchen but there was no exhaust or atleast didn't seem like it was working cause the smoke was everywhere in the room while cooking.

Hotel located 5mins walk from hoche stn (metro line 5). Room had most of the things i needed, it had a sink, microwave, kettle, spacious bed area and local shops very close by. Only annoying things were the wifi which was TERRIBLE AND ANNOYING. the wifi was soo slow and kept asking me to sign in to it every few minutes coupled with having a tv with no english channels, together made for very early nights.

I wouldn't stay there if they offered it for free.
This hotel isn't so good. First of all, breakfast isn't included, you had to pay extra for. Second of all, WIFI didn't work in room, you had to go down to lobby to get on WIFI, which by the end didn't work at all. Lastly, the key to room didn't work half the time, they gave us 2 keys, one would quit at night, and one would quit the next morning, not programmed for whole visit, so at the end we had to ask the clerk at the front desk, and he's busy, he couldn't leave what he was doing and let us into our rooms, so we didn't have access to a room that we paid for, it sucked, if you forget something in room, you're screwed, you cannot go back to get it.

We just stayed for two nights and he we loved it there. The hotel was nice and clean but their rooms carpet needs changing they're very old. Their staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is close to rustaurants and shops and the Effel Tower is 40 minutes away with the public transport.

An Alright Hotel
I was worried at first when reading reviews of this hotel, however when we arrived I was actually very happy with the place. The hotel staff were a little difficult to communicate with in English, but it is France after all, not everyone needs to be an English speaking expert. The hotel carpets are in the process of being fixed! They were being done while we stayed, and the floor we stayed on had already been replaced it seems (7th floor). Yes, some rooms do have sofa beds but we were lucky enough to have a normal and very comfortable bed. You can request a non-sofa bed when booking. The room we had was great. We were provided with pots, cutlery, dishes, and washing up supplies. There was a kettle and toaster with a small cooker to use for making food. We frequently visited the grocery store just 3 minutes from the hotel for food to cook! It was very clean here, and when we requested cleaning/towel replacing in the room, we were given said service. The only small issue with the room was the shower head. It was too short for us tall people, but that's more at the fault of our genes than the hotel. Finally, there is a tram right outside of the hotel and a train station just an 8 minute walk up a straight road. It takes just 20-30 minutes to get into the heart of Paris on the public transport. Pretty convenient if you ask me. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Even if you do get a sofa bed, you'll spend most of your time exploring Paris anyway, not sleeping :)

Awful, horrible, terrible, dirty, old, bad service. Photos are very diferent, all the beds are couches, the carpets are super dirty. Bad service at the reception, lonely place. The best thing is the people who clean the rooms.

Really great area to stay in if you're attending any shows in the Philharmonie/ surrounding venues. Walk 5 or so minutes and you'll find really great eating places for a fraction of the price of those in the centre. Short walk from the metro which, once you get the hang of it, is a great way to see Paris' attractions while saving money. Hotel is pretty basic but the rooms are clean. Overall I had a great trip and give credit to Canal

Probably wouldn’t stay here again.
First impression wasn’t so great. Very unorganized/cluttered in the lobby area. Staff was friendly. Room was decent for the price we paid, however, the bed was very firm (felt like we were sleeping on the floor with a blanket under us), no hot water in the morning (staff just said “Oh, we know.” and apologized, and hair dryer was broken. Close to the metro (5 minute or so walk).
