Advertised free WiFi but no WiFi working. No hotel staff- register there’d through vista but hotel deserted. No record of payment so staff tried to take additional payment when all had been paid in advance

The hotel seems to be right by the motorway exit but due to road re-alingment or similar works the junction has been moved about two miles further North so when you exit the motorway you turn left at the roundabout and begin an unexpectedly long drive to the South. On arrival we found the hotel entrance and reception locked and deserted. Eventually we found that we could access the hotel via the adjacent cafe/restaurant. Not an impressive start. However, the room was clean, comfortable and up to the standard expected. The kettle worked and so tea was quickly prepared and we setlled down to television viewing. The whole length of the corridor outside our room suffered from sqeaky floorboards as we found out when we tried to sleep. The adjacent cafe/restaurant was used for our evening meal and the food was adequate. We were please enough to book the room again for our return journey the following week when we found the front door open and the reception staffed.

Could not get a bottle of red wine as sold out, could do with a decent restaurant one not attached to a coffee bar.

Reasonable acommodation for golfer's.
As a visiting party of golfer's, the Motel was adequate for what was needed, ie comfortable beds, good shower's, and local amenities near by.The Motel it's self is in a "worn/uncared for" state, and could use a good clean and coat of paint. The staff went out of their way to help in any way they could.

Budget hotel based at motorway services location, restaurant closed and only costa open for snacks and drink, otherwise it was the McDonalds next door. Some nice pubs nearby as great alternative meal. Room was clean but bathroom door latch broken No main reception at night keys accessed via Costa coffee Could do with a bit of a refresh But in a budget this was an OK stay.

I was there for 3 days and never saw anyone at reception all that time - I booked in and out through Costa Coffee which is connected. The internet was useless and I could not connect, also, I could not get an iron. The bar is also unmanned and you need to get someone from costa to come and serve you Locals are referring to this place as the Bates hotel. The room itself was not too bad but with no customer service to speak of I was very disappointed.

What a shambles of a setup, no reception, no eating facilities other than Pie and Chips in the attached Costa. In 30 years of travelling I'd be hard pushed to remember anywhere worse than this place. The ONLY saving grace is the room was clean, but I'm guessing that's due to a recent a refurbishment. Sorry to say this one goes on the AVOID list.

Location was good on services close to A1. Room was comfy and breakfast was choose of Costa breakfast or McDonald's.

OK for my needs
I didnt really see too much of what the hotel had to offer as I was simply there to get a few hours sleep en route north. However, with arriving late, I ensured that 24 hour check in was available. Maybe it should state on the booking that if you arrive after hours then you need to check in at Costa Coffee and not try to enter the building and go to reception as nobody is there in the late hours. However, the man on duty was pleasant and quickly checked me in so all was ok.

stayed here numerous times but hotel has changed hands & for us has gone backward You now pay extra for breakfast £10 each , bar has closed , hotel entrance closed you enter via Costa cafe & Costa staff check you in as reception closed. Staff uncertain of rooms & we had to tell them which ones were executive as we had paid for one but allowcated an on ordinary double. hotel looking tired & in desperate need of some TLC. Shame as used to be a lovey place Will not rush back

Ok for 1 night
Turned up, nobody on reception, waited 20 minutes after paging for someone to arrive. Got the key to my room, the corridors were dark and dingy. Upon entering the room, there was a stale stench and again was a dark and dingy room. The room was not clean, there was some sticky substance on the sideboard so had to stow my luggage on the chairs. The bathroom lacked amenities and one of the towels was still dirty. I put the towels on the floor hoping for them to be replaced the next say, i got back from a 10K race and found that the towels hadn't been replaced as the same dirty bath towel was hung again... So glad I bought my own towel! The saving grace was the bed... It was clean.

We chose here as visiting friends nearby. Ideal price for our needs. Little lovely touch, they straightened the dogs bed. Easy to find. Great for M1, so could visit places.

Checking was efficient with a very pleasant Young man.We were very disappointed with the room especially the bathroom..this was in need of an update,the bath was stained and the bath panel was falling off...the beds were very comfortable

Rooms were very dated and in need of refurbishment, also a lot of paint had flaked off around the window. Could not turn the heat down so had to have the window open at night, this meant that i had to put up with the noise from the boy racers in the car park. From listening to other guests, this seemed to be a hotel wide problem. No wifi in my room for the first 3 days and was given the excuse that it was the weather. Had to sit in reception to connect. Was told that they would get someone in to sort it, if that failed then they would move me to another room, (Last i Heared). Some of the night staff seemed to spend most of the evening in costa chatting to their friends. When they left, a sign told us that if we had any problems go to costa who seemed not to be able to do much. As nobody was on duty when i checked out at 7am, i had to ring and arrange for a VAT invoice to be sent to me via email. What i received was a photograph of the hand written form that i filled in on checking in, (not vey professional). On the whole the room served its purpose but was not worth the money paid. I have stayed in much nicer hotels for much less and would not use the Lodge again.

It was frustrating that Reception closed at 5pm, and that the doors are locked at 11pm. I needed to make a 36mile round trip to book into the Lodge as we were not sure the wedding reception evening festivities would end. The shower grouting would benefit from a good clean and freshen up!

I shouldn't have been surprised after reading the reviews but this hotel is pretty dreadful - when I arrived I was given my key with no information about meals / checkout time etc...when I asked about the breakfast I was told that this was not included, despite this being listed as included on Hotels.com...noisy floorboards outside room, room tiny and bed hard and uncomfortable. Avoid.

Noisy being close to Macdonalds.We stayed 2 nights a week apart in that time breakfast was included in price on the second night the first night cost 10 pounds per person extra ,not happy with that cost.

One of the worst hotels
fire alarm went off twice over night without any staff advising guests what to do and whether it was a false alarm or real fire. Air con was so noisy you couldn't hear the TV over it. On checking out I was not asked how my stay was and the day staff had not been told of the alarm when it was mentioned to them. Very poor from a customer care and health and safety point of view.

Visit to see friends locally. The hotel has seen better days and it is crying out. For a renovation. Did hear it has been taken over so maybe better days ahead.The staff were very good and friendly,they are doing their best in a old past it's best hotel.They work very hard in the breakfast room and the buffet breakfast is acceptable ( no problems for us ) Yes the bathroom was a bit smelly. But as we were only sleepy there it was good value for money.

Convenient hotel for A1 but disappointing
I was extremely disappointed with the hotel. The central heating did not work at all and we experienced a cold night in the room. We did advise the young man on reception duty but he, though pleasant, was not able to rectify the problem. Secondly, I could not get the TV to work and the receptionist tried and got 1 channel to work but very soon there was a message on the screen saying that the TV would shut down unless I pushed the OK button on the remote control. This I did, but the TV shut down anyway and I could not get a picture. There were 2 remote controls but no instructions. Thirdly the heated towel rail in the bathroom did not work and indeed there was a notice on it with the word "fail" shown. In short I was very disappointed and will not use this hotel again.

Needs a good revamp.my husband is in a wheelchair although we had the adapted room he struggled.would of been a little easier if the wardrobe had been put in the corner where the tv was so he had that little more room to move around.would not recommend or go back.
