La Penson is a wonderful new lodging option in Nacogdoches.
Similar to a Bed and Breakfast without the awkward scheduled meal with strangers you only see in the morning.
The rooms are big and well appointed. The rooms are also in different parts of the home, so you’re not right next door to others. Everything throughout was spotless. The exterior of the house is a little rough and needs updating, but I believe it will be. I was told they were having siding made. The interior of home is beautifully decorated and presents almost like a museum. The owner/manager has a talent for design, and it was fun looking at all the artwork and furniture throughout. But is also very functional as a space. There was a refrigerator in the kitchen where we could keep snacks and drinks, and an ice maker in the bar. My wife likes to walk neighborhoods when we travel and this neighborhood features quiet streets and historic Craftsman, Victorian and other style homes to see in the oldest town in Texas.
We were in town visiting our son who is a student at SFASU, and my only regret is that La Penson wasn’t available four years ago. He graduates in May, and we will not be back there much, I guess. We may have to ‘visit him’ when he’s not there just to have an excuse to stay here again.
Great for SFA parents visiting, a romantic getaway, couple’s trips (3-4 couples), or girls’ trips.
