Loved this little boutique hotel! Great location, within walking distance of lots of sights and restaurants in Casco Viejo. Staff were helpful and extremly friendly. Beds were very comfy and rooms were modern and clean. We had a little balcony that overlooked the street...but it wasn't noisy at all. 5 out of 5!
We loved or stay at The American Trade Hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the service from the staff excellent. Waitstaff, bar staff, front desk, valet and maid staff were all very friendly and professional. The jazz club right next to the hotel added a nice special touch. We enjoyed sunbathing on the rooftop deck with cool drinks and appetizers. We enjoyed Panama City and were very happy we decided to stay in "Old Town". We do wish we would have stayed more than two nights however. If we ever go back to Panama, we will definitely stay at The American Trade Hotel again. keep up the great work and thanks for a wonderful stay!
The environment of the hotel is great. There is a bar and restaurant in the lobby that are good. The only downside is the comfort of the beds and the shower but no big deal. The rooms are a nice size, just a little outdated. The location of the hotel is great.
The Manager or the boss ¨i do not know ¨ was exceptional!!!!
Only Cons : The floor is the ugliest thing i ve ever seen.
1) On our second day we came back to the room during the day and the front desk told us we were supposed to leave the room key with them before we left for the day so they could clean our rooms. How were we supposed to know that? Well we didn't know so it wasn't cleaned. But they did come right up with us and replaced the towels and toiletries. 2) We asked for a wakeup call for Friday morning at 7AM so I did not put my alarm on my phone. When I'm on vacation I like to keep my phone off. They called at 7:30AM! A wake up call 30 minutes late is completely unacceptable. When the lady called she apologized for calling late but sounded like she didn’t' think it was a big deal. Well it was a big deal. This caused me and my boyfriend to miss our 8:30AM ferry at Amador Causeway to Isla Saboga by 5 minutes! Had we be waken up when we asked the staff we would have made our ferry. There were no more ferries going out that day so our plansfor the day were ruined. 3) We asked the hotel for a place to do zip lining, horseback riding or any kind of activity like them. First they gave me a phone number for a woman at a company to call for activities. The number was a mobile number which the staff were not able to call; they are only able to call to landlines. They said I had to call a calling card. They suggested going to a town called Gamboa and once there go to the Gamboa Resort and they have all the activities. That was a lie; the resort had none of the above.
This is not a hotel for lounging around and relaxing. The room are very sparse with tile floors, but a decent air conditioner. If your trip is all about exploring Panama City and only needing a place to sleep, this is the hotel for you. The internet was surprising fast and the staff was very, very helpful and courteous.
Our experience as a family staying at benidorm hotel was good for us because the staff was very pleasant and the hotel room was good enough for us and my ten year old son was very pleased with the Internet connection and the cable television. My husband and I will definitely be returning to benidorm hotel because the area was safe and secure and there was a lot of shopping to do around that area and we definitely felt comfortable with the staff and we enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant.
"Good place to stay if you just need basic amenity"
Recommended from past experience in living in Panama. Experience this time was a little different. Booked hotel for large convention. Hotel was quite busy and as a result, some things suffered. Wifi was rarely available - even at 2 to 3 am - number of access points needs to be increased. Rooms have no irons or ironing boards, usually a standard item in other hotels. Iron brought to our room leaked like a sieve, stained some of our good clothes. Lighting in foyer/closet area bad, could not see into closet to select clothing for each day's events. Incessant noise from nightclubs across street, noise from neighboring guests penetrated walls a little too easily. Parking was awkward, had to park two blocks down from the hotel and walk through some unsavory areas to get back to the hotel. Breakfast was excellent - good, traditional food served up by pleasant, professional staff. One of the waiters was a very nice older gentleman from the same part of La Chorrera as my wife's family. He was a sincere pleasure to talk to. Interaction with him alone made the stay at the hotel worthwhile. Check-in and check-out was a bit cumbersome as reception was a little unfamiliar with an Expedia prepaid reservation. Overall experience was pleasant. As far as hotels go, the Soloy is a bit above average. The adjoining casino I feel brings in a majority of their revenue, so they may not feel the need to be five-star with the rooms.
