Once you understand the history of the Sassi you will appreciate all the conveniences that have been built into the cave rooms. "Matera is not the easiest place to get to in first place. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to change plans and arrived by coach bus instead of rental car. The hotel contacted us a couple days before our check in and once they learned about our change if plans, they helpfully pointed out to us that our bus station is actually quite a bit of distance from the hotel. They then booked a taxi for us that waited at the bus station and took us straight into the restricted area inside the old...

"This is a lovely house and very centrally located but quiet! Our hostess was very kind and we had an unusual "cave" room that was interesting and had a garden area so we could sit outside. Matera is an amazing place NOT to be missed! Spend several nights at Casa Diva. You will not be disappointed!! "

The hotel coordinated with a parking garage our car and even used it in the middle of our stay drive to Gravina and Albarobello. Matera is beautiful and has great restaurants (we recommend Austin in front of Agustine church)."
