The Marriott Waiohai is a lovely beach club with nice pools, gym, game room, etc. The room description is a bit tricky, so be careful to read very carefully what type of room you are getting. Our listing said some things were included, but then when we were confirmed, it was a different room without amenities of a villa. This was understandable, but not clear as the general "room amenities" listed on Marriott and Expedia are those of a villa.
Staff was mostly very friendly. The one exception was over coffee. They don't offer coffee in the lobby unless you buy a $40 souvenir mug. We have plenty of such mugs at home, so tried to fill our own cups in lobby and were scolded by the staff member. "It's the same coffee that we supply in your room." Then why not let us fill up downstairs? Particularly since we have no cleaning services available during our stay. On that, I understand COVID limits services, but we were out of our room most days. With a week long stay, it really needed a tidying up. I had to repeatedly text for our single towel replacement, but staff was overall super helpful. A daily call noting when you are closing on-site restaurants would be helpful, as I don't think most guests expect a hotel to have ZERO dining options after 6pm. Since I got an automated time share pitch every day, I imagine a similar recorded "operating hours" recording could be done and pushed to guests. We were overall ok with our stay, but not enough to book this same hotel again.
