We stayed in 6 places during our trip to Hawaii and I can confidently say this was our favourite. We were blown away by how lovely the unit we rented was. It was spacious, well-appointed, had very comfortable furnishings, lots of areas to hang and store things, in-unit laundry, and an incredible view of the golf course and ocean. Temperature control was seamless (which is difficult in Hawaii) and everything was clean and bug-free. The restaurant and property were great too. We appreciated the beach towels and customer service. Parking was usually fairly available - sometimes with a bit of a walk. The location was a bit out of town - but it's a gorgeous drive. Nearby mall. We were gently approached re: time-share. Areas for improvement: - we loved the hot tub and used the one in the center area once - but our hands peeled for 4 days after this. I suspect the hot tub may have a chemical imbalance? - on our check-out morning, there was an issue with the water. The entire complex had no water at all. There were a dozen or so emergency plumbers working hard with back-hoes. Things happen, but at no time did the property contact us in any way (email, door-to-door, text [they texted for other things], note, deliver bottled water) about this issue that began overnight. Perhaps a communication strategy could be developed for scenarios like this. - dirty beach towels sat out on porch overnight despite new ones being delivered - check-in procedure was painful (staff-related)

We were two family group so had rent two bed rooms in one house. It had kitchen, dinning, living rooms and dish washer, refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, dryer. We can stay even a year. Shower and bath tub at main bed room and shower at the other bed room. Sun-set was so beautiful. If you like, you can enjoy the swimming pool and jacuzzi. It was so comfortable. Also close to golf course. We will come back next staying.

Facilities in this property were perfect for our four night stay! We loved the addition of BBQ areas all over the complex. Staff were very helpful, only downfall was the multiple conversations regarding joining a seminar. Bar area had the perfect setting, foos menu could do with a few more options. Overall a great and convenient place to stay if exploring the Big Island.

Upon arrival the condo was filled with the smell of urine. Dog? (Feces in grass along walk way.) Multiple spots in the kitchen also had cockroach dropping. There's was a roach in the shower and soap residue that wasn't cleaned. The other bathroom had mold on the ceiling, grout and on top of the decorative cubed shower wall. Will spend a little more next time somewhere more clean.

It was a very spacious room! Love having a full kitchen washer dryer and 2 bathrooms! Pool was nice. Not walkable to beach. Golf course is between property and ocean. Also it’s all volcano rock can’t swim there. But they have some amazing views

the worst hotel/ stay I had, first when u enter the resort there’s a security office and there was never anyone in there the time I was staying. It felt unsafe. Anyone could just drive into the resort. Our room had a bunch of little cockroaches. And the floor above us, you can hear every little stomp they make. The location of the resort had nothing nearby. Everything is driving distance. Across The street there is alot of homeless which isn’t a safe area to walk to. On our third day the water went out and we were waterless for 2 1/2 days. The front desk was not helpful or did not have a back up Option. We called Thursday night to be put on a list to shower in a different building and hours went by and they never wrote our name down so we were waited for nothing. We did not get to shower until 2 AM when a security escorted us to a building that had water for us to shower.The staff at the front desk had so much attitude and hung up the phone while I was talking to them. This resort is more like a motel 6 .

Great hotel, unfortunately there was a water main break wheb we arrived ans they tried to give us a room with no running water. I politely refused since we were with our three little ones. They then gave us a room with one bedroom even though we booked 2 bedrooms and an ocean view. We eventually got a 2 bedroom room with running water but never got the ocean view we booked and paid for. The manager never even tried to discount poir stay for the inconvenience. Made me feel like we were inconveniening them.

Staff was amazing. I was traveling with my mom who is wheelchair bound and when I ask for assistance the staff easily help. Communication was very good and easy. I travel 3 times with United and every time I have great experience.

The property was fantastic! Great amenities, great view and it was perfect and quiet. The pool temperature was ideal. The gym was a little small and the air conditioning in the room had a strange odor (like pee). Those would be my only complaints. Overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely stay again.

I am so impressed with the Kona Coast Resort. Everything exceeded my expectations: the suite, the service, and the amenities. This place was my favourite out of the 3 resorts we stayed at in Hawaii. Our suite was way bigger and better than I'd expected from the pictures. The bathrooms were very spacious and nice, and the master bedroom's bathroom had a huge bathtub with a tile platform and a step. Even the shower in the 2nd bathroom was huge, and the water pressure in both bathrooms was very good. The beds were big and comfy, and we had a huge kitchen and living room. The whole place was immaculately clean, and I loved that they provided lots of bath towels as well as beach towels. They have a lot of activities at this resort, and our favourite was the dance/band performance. There were a ton of different dances performed, and even some dances performed by a kids' dance school (?). I also liked that this resort seemed to be taking care of its stray cats. All of the resorts in Hawaii have stray cats, and sadly, at most of the resorts, the strays are in poor condition, and none of them are fixed. Kona Coast Resort's cats looked... maybe not in the greatest shape, but there were at least no cats with open wounds, none emaciated, and one of the cats was even TNR'ed (had the ear notch). As an animal lover, I found it distasteful and distressing to stay at a resort where none of the cats were fixed and had obvious medical issues that had gone untreated for a long time.

First of all I have to say the staff at Kona Coast Resort is top notch. 5 out of 5 stars for the staff, very friendly and helpful and really put out that aloha vibe. The property itself is another matter. It is pretty run down and outdated. When we walked into our unit it felt damp. The faucet on the kitchen sink was leaking water out onto the counter top. There was chipped tile throughout in the kitchen and bathroom. It was clean but looked dingy. No smart TV's to sign into netflix or other streaming services. Exterior of buildings looked dirty and dated as well. At one point they had someone power washing the exterior of the building outside our units door and water was pouring into the kitchen area from outside and we had to use towels to clean it up. We are lucky that we were currently in the condo at the time, because if we were out and about and came back after we would have walked into a puddle in the kitchen and could have slipped and really hurt ourselves. The unit was damp and humid and any. The unit was at ground level directly in front of a tee-box for one of the holes on the neighboring golf course and all we could here were drunk people teeing off and yelling, couldn't really enjoy the patio and no privacy. Again, the staff was amazing but not being able to pick the unit we stayed in was a big drawback and we would have paid extra to be up off the ground if possible. We loved the big island and will be back someday but will not stay here again.

This property and the rooms were STUNNING! After a full day of exploring and hiking, the bed was so comfortable and it was a beautiful, quiet place to come back to at the end of the day. The staff were incredible and went above and beyond!
