Freiheit
The quality of staff is good and the cleanliness and amenity of the room is satisfactory. Although I felt the lighting of the room is a bit dark for me. The hotel is connected with the shopping complex including supermarket and food court, so I had no difficulty to obtain foods and toiletries at reasonable price. The hotel is also connected MTR Hong Hom Station, and you can get there directly from Hong Kong International Airport by Airbus A21. The location is a bit far from the main area of Hong Kong such as Central, but their flequent and complimentary shuttle bus service to Tsim Sha Tsui compensates this disadvantage. Overall, I can recommend this hotel to not only my fellow Japanese travellers but also travellers from other countries.
Best Cheap Hotel
This is the best hotel in the area for the price. Other similar hotels are dirtier and don't have views. Only drawback is it's you have to take a cab to Tsim Sha Tsui. It's only a five minute cab ride or a twenty minute walk. It's next to Hung Hom station so it's easy to hop on the train. Due to the great rates, it fills up fast.
Neighbourhood recommendations: Tsim Sha Tsui is the best neighborhood in Hong Kong/Kowloon. It has the most stuff to do in the shortest area (walking distance). It also has the best views of Hong Kong.
What to pack: It's tropical weather- super sticky humid hot during most months and it can rain heavily so be prepared. The style here is relaxed, lots of layering, graphic tee's, black and white.
Shopping: There are tons of malls here, they are everywhere. Some are high end, some carry Japanese brands, some are duty free (which is a rip, don't bother with these unless you are Japanese). Don't buy knock-offs in Hong Kong, they are too expensive- go to China for that stuff.
Metropolis Jan 2010
Hotel is across the street from the express train to China, and within 15 min. walking distance to key shopping area in Tsim Sha Shui. There is a shopping mall adjacent to the hotel with a convenience store and several restaurants. I had three different rooms during my stay, a smaller room, a standard size room and a small suite. Only the smallest room was uncomfortable as it was a bit too small. Some rooms have a harbour view as well. Each has a small kitchen and was well appointed.
