If after your day of adventure you want a bit of relaxation, this destination also boasts beautiful beaches like Ellis Beach, and amazing spas like the Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa. This wonderful destination caters to travellers, so accommodation and entertainment are usually reasonably priced, and it’s easy to find cheap flights to Cairns the majority of the year.

Best time to go to Cairns

    Peak Season:

From July to October the climate can sometimes be cool, but is usually breezy and warm, with only the occasional bit of rain. These months are perfect for taking a jungle tour through Daintree, catching a cricket match at Cazaly's Stadium, or animal watching at Mount Lewis. Flights to Cairns can be a bit pricey at this time, so it is a good idea to book ahead.

    Shoulder Season:

The months of May through June make up the shoulder season in Cairns. This period can be very chilly, so most tourists flee the city in search of warmer climates, which means flights are often inexpensive. If you don’t mind the chill in the air, this is an excellent time to visit some of the city's more cultural attractions, like the Tanks Arts Centre or the Jute Theatre.

    Off Season:

Although the increased underwater visibility from November to April makes for great diving, most people prefer to stay out of the rain and indulge in some of the many indoor activities, such as wandering through the Cairns Wildlife Dome or salsa dancing at Casa De Meze.
