Property was very relaxing. The entire staff was amazing and made us feel welcomed. We were able to get picked up by the dive boat at the dock. The food was good quality and the drinks were made to order with top shelf liquor. The excursions was a nice bonus to staying there. Can't wait to go back!

My friend & I had a wonderful stay at the Explorean. The jungle setting was beautiful & relaxing. All of the staff were outstanding. They were so welcoming & made our whole visit special. I was especially impressed with the activity team, Jassiel, Nestor, Julio, Armando, Edgar, Vega (along with Epi & Luis on the boats). They made every effort to see that we had a lot of fun. They got to know us & also shared stories of their own lives. We were there for 14 days & asked for a repeat of our favorite excursion, El Ceilo & they scheduled it 2 more times with visits to different parts of the reef. Breakfast & lunch were very nice at Explorean's restaurant, Lool Kan. We enjoyed dinner there, but would have liked more menu choices. It was great that meals & facilities at the Fiesta Americana were also included. The Asian restaurant had amazing food & excellent service. Our favorite place for breakfast was the beach club buffet. The hostess there, Alejandra, knew our name by the 2nd visit & where we liked to sit. My favorite were the delicious tacos Virginia made me every morning. Our favorite lunch spot was at La Cevicheria with savory seafood & an amazing view of the shimmering ocean. One night was special with a buffet dinner on the beach followed by a fire show. Most of the FA night shows were good, but the amplified music would have been much better at half volume. The room was simple, very clean, with ample big towels, comfortable bed & pillows & mini bar stocked daily.

The VIP access had 2 rooms, 2 baths and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The view was excellent! Well worth the upgrade. The pools (all pools) should be fixed, tiles falling off, and large sections with holes making the facility appear run down.

They definitely need to upgrade the pools. Also bars dont open until 11 am. Needs to start at 9 am. Who doesnt want a mimosa with breakfast? The rooms also need a coffee pot. They deliver coffee at 7 am. We wake up at 5 am. No coffee until 6:30. It was peaceful and I enjoyed it. I would go again. They just need to make some minor changes. Except the pools. That is a major renovation. Tiles are falling off everywhere. The excursion staff was amazing. Julio is the best!

What’s the bottom line? Would we stay here again? No. Would we stay at the Fiesta Americana? No. I wouldn’t recommend staying at this resort. If you are like us and try to see the good in things (and disregard the negative reviews others have mentioned) and still are interested in booking, please be mindful of our remember to bring water shoes, bug spray, anti-diarrheal, and walking shoes. Also, don’t forget that the beach access is probably closed- even if they tell you it will be open by the time you arrive. There is no other public beach access nearby and the beach clubs that are close, you have to pay to enter and use their facilities.

If you are disabled no accommodations will be made for you. Who put a handicap person on the 2nd floor? No all exclusive, meals are limites for dining, drinks are also limited hours. Was suppose to be no kids at resort that is why we booked here. Kids in the adult pool areas daily. For our main dinner, the men got their drinks while the ladies waited another 1/2 hour, never go plates for our appetizers, cleared table conpletely before we go dessert and never brought out plates or forks to eat cake with. Housekeeping is a hit or miss. Fridge was never restocked. The bar by the beach hasnt been open in 2 years, yet they claim to have one. Avoid this place!!!!!!!

Our stay was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. The rooms were very nice and clean, everyday service was so nice. The grounds were beautiful and they kept it very clean. The staff, Julio, who helped us get on a tour of El Cielo, when there was a mix up and the winds cancelled alot of our planned excursions. Eric who checked us in was so nice and fixed a room mix up

We loved the Explorean. The rooms are spacious and updated, the grounds are well kept. I loved seeing iguanas! The restaurant is fabulous and the servers and bartenders were all so friendly. So were the guys who took us on excursions. It was also wonderful to have access to Fiesta. We were able to go over there for nightly shows and have more choices for restaurants. We loved the breakfast baskets outside the door every day and drinking hot coffee on our balcony! The ONLY thing that wasn’t perfect (but we used every day anyway!) was the pool. While beautiful, once you get in the pool you’ll notice missing and loose tiles posing safety hazards. We could have gone to Fiesta’s pool, but we loved the quiet tranquility and beauty of the Explorean’s. We went for a girls trip and loved it. Already planning a trip back with my husband!

The Explorean Cozumel gave us the best vacation. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The jungle setting is quiet and relaxing. The grounds are kept pristine. The staff at the Explorean is truly what made our experience here so fabulous. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and really seemed to care about us having a nice vacation. I loved the restaurant Lo'Kaan. Gabriel, Angel, Rony, and Manuel were staff that really stood out with excellent service. They had a rotating menu and you could always find something you liked. I cannot remember when we have felt this happy about service. The daily excursions included with our stay were wonderful. Our favorite was the buggy ride day with Julio and Vega. They were very helpful and patient. Another pro about staying at The Explorean is the included use of the facilities at the Fiesta Americana resort. We enjoyed their restaurants two nights, as well as their nightly entertainment of traditional Mexican dancers, Karaoke, and casino night. It was nice having a bustling place to people watch and then have The quietness of The Explorean to retreat. I cannot wait to return to Cozumel and The Explorean.

This was a wonderful vacation. It’s very quiet but close enough to the fiesta Americana (2 minute walk) if you want more lively. The pool does need attention and there is only 1 restaurant at the Explorean. I think they want you to utilize the other resort… pool and restaurants. The bonus is they include excursions everyday which are wonderful! Oh my, I forgot to talk about the service which is exceptional!

We loved that the Explorean had a boutique feel and was a quite escape in the jungle while still having easy access to amenities and restaurants at the larger hotel. Our concierge Leo went out of his way to make our stay a pleasant one and we loved the personal feel Nestor gave to our tours.

Loved the excursions and guides! Property is great and the staff couldn’t possibly be more friendly. Only downsides were pools need some TLC (but they do have workers fixing tiles/grout daily) and don’t waste your money at the over priced gift shop - go into town.

Food was not good. It was like dining on a cheap cruise. I understand I might be bias, but if you know good food, this wasn’t it. If you have a basic palette you will love it. Half of staff was very attentive. Still a good experience but I would not do an all inclusive again.

Like more air conditioning in buffet area. Loved the basket with coffee and bread each morning. Awesome gesture. Only complaint - my husband and I prefer the liquid creamer vs. the powdered one. Therefore, we rarely drank the coffee. Also, would be nice to have two Milky Ways in refrigerator - one for spouse and one for me. Could put two cappuccinis instead. There were a lot of bees in big pool. Resort guests need to discard their drinks. Entertainment was outstanding.

The Explorean was great! The service, rooms, and included excursions were excellent. I enjoyed the partnership with Fiesta Americana—we used their facility a lot. The Explorean felt a little more quiet and secluded, while the Fiesta was more activity-rich and exciting. I loved having access to both! Special shoutout to Carlos, an activities director at Fiesta. He went above and beyond to make my wife and I feel welcome! Fernanda, Julio, and Edgar were wonderful as well. The only reason my stay wasn’t a perfect score is because the beach club was closed (and has been for quite some time, according to other reviews). Would’ve been nice to enjoy more beach time when in Cozumel.
