"Has to be one of my very favorite experiences visiting Scotland. We loved this hotel. It was beautiful, tidy and the staff treated us like old friends. The staff was simply amazing!!! The food was excellent and the service perfect. Our view out our window was so gorgeous, we keep reflecting back on it, green rolling hills dotted with sheep and baby lambs, incredibly beautiful and peaceful, you can help but exhale and relax. The hiking possibilities are endless, providing all levels of challenge. We adored Glen Clova and highly recommend it. "

"Property & room were well appointed and maintained. Room seating was uncomfortable as sofa was a sleeper and chair was stiff, but really, most time is spent out of the room. No AC so we were hot when outside temps were in the 50’sF. In fairness this is common in Scotland. Very nice pools - yes more than 1 - plus restaurant and separate informal lounge. Good food, but breakfast hours start at 10. Doting staff. Perfect service. "

"We had a great first visit to Ballater and the hotel did not disappoint. Our room was very clean and tidy. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food was very tasty and the waiting staff very courteous and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely go back. "

"The location was fabulous and the garden was a joy. The house was okay but would have benefited from the owners having been less defensive and having acted upon issues already raised by previous reviewers e.g. the mattresses/pillows were very uncomfortable, the tap in the upstairs toilet is very stiff and difficult to turn on or regulate the temperature, especially cold (even the caretaker couldn't sort out). The old books (inc Masters of Modern Science, 1935 edition! and the complete Encyclopaedia Britannica) are not everyone's idea of holiday reading. The very old incomplete jigsaws and games and the selection of classical CDs (impressive but not to everyone's taste) - all still there, as are the bowls of old scentless potpourri. I would add to these issues,that the toilet upstairs is set back in a combe behind the oversized sink unit so we had to sit askew to avoid bumped heads and banging legs on sharp edges of the unit. The grouting in the shower is in need of freshening up. No welcome pack was listed or expected but the herbs and spices which are listed included a pot of curry powder that expired in 2022 and a chilli that had expired in 1995! The television is old (not smart TV) and there is no satellite or cable as listed, just freeview. We took a firestick to have an option of watching movies in the evenings but, as mentioned by previous reviewers, there was nowhere we could all watch together. It would be good to have a tv in the lounge area. I have"
