"Fantastic hotel right in the centre of Leidseplein"
I have visited Amsterdam a couple of times now and this is my first stay at the American Hotel. The staff were efficient and friendly and the hotel is located right in the centre of things in Leidse Square. From here it was so easy to walk to all the sights we wanted to visit. The room was large and comfortable. I will definitely be staying here again!

"Very good hotel, excellent for travel connections."
We had 4 excellent nights in the Park hotel, the lobby staff were very knowledgeable and helpful and we bought tickets for the HoHo boat and bus and also the Van Gogh museum from the front desk. The hotel is well placed for the main museums, the Heinecken experience and Anne Frank house was a pleasant 25 min walk away. We didn't use the restaurant but did our own thing for breakfast and for other meals, we bought yoghurts, fruit etc for breakfast at Heinj supermarket which was 2 streets along and used the room fridge to keep them cool. We had a day trip to Keukenhof gardens which was very nice. Our highlight was definitely Van Gogh museum we bought our tickets from the hotel and went just after 9.00 AM and more or less walked straight in, allow 3 hrs for this museum, we went to Anne Frank on our first night at about 6.00 and had to queue for about an hour, it takes about 45 min to see through the house. We used the HoHo bus and boat combination ticket from the hotel for 20 euros - good value - only problem was that the company isn't allowed to advertise their stops but there is a stop for both outside the Rijkmuseum only 2-3 mins from the front of the hotel. We used the 197 bus from the airport to Landseplein stop and from there it is only a 2-3 min walk back to the hotel. We will definitely use the Park hotel if we return to Amsterdam.

"Caring and Competent Staff"
JL 76 is a smallish boutique hotel that is staffed by incredible people. I travel a fair amount and have never experienced the care that is consistently practiced here. Andre, at the desk, was so thoughtful and knowledgeable in giving savvy traveling suggestions. Other staff members (David, Thomas, and Thriska [sp?] ) went beyond basic expectations to meet our needs appropriately and with such positive attitudes and pleasant demeanor.

"Fabulous location"
Great hotel just behind the main road of the museum quarter, so very quiet at night. The staff were extremely helpful and were ready to explain anything you wanted to know. They also make a wicked milky coffee! The room was small but very clean and comfortable . I would stay here again And would recommend it. They also rent an apartment which would be great for longer visit.

"The neighborhoos combines charm and convenience"
We stayed in an apartment with a balcony, which not only expanded the living space, but offered a welcome respite overlooking quiet gardens. The kitchen was fully equipped and stocked well. Short walking distance to the major museums of the city, and a charming neighborhood of restaurants, cafés and shopping.

"Great!"
My husband and I traveled to Amsterdam for one night for a gig at the nearby Paradiso. This hotel is a 40 minute bus ride from the airport, in a central location; museums and historic canal areas are nearby. The only drawback to the building is steep staircases; but we didn't mind. Our room was very spacious and pleasant, well furnished, clean, with a modern bathroom and shower; at the top of the building, it had exposed roof beams--cool to stay in an old building that was renovated well. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and room heated up quickly. An ample cold breadfast with fresh bread and croissants was provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable. We would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it warmly.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Museum Quarter 4 stars Hotels

Home to Amsterdam’s big three museums, the Museum Quarter includes the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk. The former is the huge national art collection. The Stedelijk is largely cutting-edge post-1945 art. The Van Gogh is home to 200 of the artist’s paintings. Nearby Leidseplein is the centre of Amsterdam’s more raucous nightlife, with famous clubs such as Paradiso and Melkweg. By day, visit the Art Deco Café Americain.
