Würzburg in winter – peaceful, steeped in history and full of architectural splendour. This winter tour combines the splendour of the Baroque period with a lively walking tour of the Old Town and an atmospheric finale on the Old Main Bridge.
The tour starts at the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important Baroque buildings in Europe. As part of a guided visit, you will explore key rooms such as the magnificent staircase with the world's largest ceiling fresco and the impressive Imperial Hall. Afterwards, there will be half an hour for you to explore on your own – for example, the Prince's Rooms or the exhibits.
After that, you’ll head through the old town, passing by important buildings and squares such as the Baroque Falkenhaus, Neumünster, the Cathedral and the historic Town Hall. Along the way, you will hear fascinating stories about the city’s development, the era of the prince-bishops and Würzburg’s eventful history.
The tour ends on the Old Main Bridge – with a glass of wine, hot mulled wine or non-alcoholic punch in hand and a magnificent view of the Marienberg Fortress and the Käppele.
A walk through the ages – with culture, history and wintertime delights.
