Wiesbaden was Germany's “special boomtown” in the 19th century. People came from all over the world to enjoy the amenities of the famous spa town. Thus, locals, newcomers, guests and passers-by from all walks of bourgeois society found their last rest at the North Cemetery, which opened in 1877.On this tour you will experience the special forest character of one of Germany's most beautiful cemeteries. From the south entrance we walk a 2 kilometre circuit and visit the graves of some well-known and lesser-known personalities. Instead of opening a history book, hear how these people witnessed and shaped the important events and developments of the “long” 19th century. By remembering them, we bring them back to life, in a sense, and can thus learn from them and from the past.
