What you can expect
By foot we gain insights into old Fort Lauderdale by visiting its past while listening to stories of Caribbean pirates, Seminole Indians, and the rum running days of Al Capone. By sea, we start with a mini cruise down the New River before meeting the seawater of the Intra-coastal Canal.
Here we discover another Fort Lauderdale, one that is the home of some of the wealthiest and most famous people around the world and is known as the Venice of America! You will see mansion homes, amazing yachts, and learn about the city’s most colourful inhabitants all from the comfort of a river cruise ship.
We meet our local expert at the centre of Esplanade Park. Our local expert will introduce in a fun informative way the city, the New River and its large collection of sunbathing iguanas, its flora, and fauna. They will also discuss the Broward Performing Art Centre before beginning a leisurely stroll down the river side pointing out various monuments, while accenting local highlights and secrets.
Our walk will take us by the historical Himmarshee district, known for its rum running days and Al Capone, Sailboat bend and its tales of legendary pirates and native American Indians, before arriving at the chic and charming Las Olas district which boasts some of the best restaurants in South Florida.
This visit on foot will next segway into a mini cruise of Fort Lauderdale. Here we will see beautiful scenic canals, complemented by the mansions of millionaires and billionaires, amazing yachts, Port Everglades where cruise ships dock from all around the world, and so much more. It’s a real adventure without ever getting your feet wet!
After approximately 90 minutes by boat, we return to the New River and dock again, ending our programme of Fort Lauderdale by land and by sea. The total time of the tour is approximately 3 hours.
