What you can expect

Day 1:

  • We will pick you up at your hotel or your departure point in Bukhara.
  • You will embark on a 3-hour journey through the Nurata Mountains. You will stop to visit the Nurata Fortress, an ancient stronghold rebuilt by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C. There, you will also see the sacred Chachma Spring. According to legend, it was created by the prophet Job. Still considered a place of healing by the surrounding inhabitants, it has also been a major pilgrimage site for Muslims for a very long time (45-minute visit).
  • Ceramic-making workshop.
  • You will travel to the Kyzylkum Desert, where, after a nearly 1-hour drive, you will visit Lake Aydar, a vast artificial reservoir surrounded by desert landscapes that do not detract from the lake’s serenity.
  • Lunch by the lake (beach).
  • You will have the opportunity to stroll along its shores or, if you wish, to swim in its calm waters.
  • Arrive at the yurt camp.
  • Later in the afternoon, you will go on a camel ride through the Kyzylkum Desert, a perfect opportunity to witness a sunset like you have never seen before.
  • Finally, you will immerse yourself in Uzbek nomadic culture by spending the night in a traditional yurt – a unique experience not to be missed!
  • At the yurt camp, you will enjoy the hospitality of the nomads while dining under the stars on traditional dishes such as “plov,” the national dish.
  • You will listen to Karakalpak music performed around a campfire – a rich experience that will allow you to immerse yourself in the ancestral way of life of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast, transfer to the village of Ashraf, Ukhum, or Sentob in the Nurata Mountains.
  • Check-in at your accommodation.
  • Lunch at a local family’s home (traditional cuisine).
  • Afterwards, a hiking experience where you can enjoy the nature and mountain scenery.
  • Dinner at a local family’s home, combining a taste of history with local cuisine as you enjoy traditional dishes. This authentic experience will allow you to discover local customs and traditions, surrounded by stunning landscapes and breathing in the fresh air.

Day 3:

  • After breakfast at your homestay, your driver will take you to the ancient city of Samarkand.
