What you can expect

  • Your Kenya Tour to Eastern Parts of Culture & Adventure Awaits!

Day 1: Nairobi – Tharaka Nithi – Homestead Arrival

Leave Nairobi in the morning and travel through Embu and Chuka into Tharaka Nithi County, one of Kenya's most culturally rich yet least-visited regions. Upon arrival, receive a warm welcome from your host family and settle into your traditional homestead. Learn how local meals are prepared using recipes passed down through generations before joining a hands-on craft workshop, such as basket weaving or pottery. In the evening, stroll through the village and visit the local market before gathering around the fire for a traditional dinner, local drinks, and storytelling.

Day 2: Sacred Sites & Cultural Landscapes

After breakfast, explore Tharaka's sacred landscapes with local guides. Visit the Kithino River and its sacred fig tree shrine, followed by Ntugi Hill, where community conservation has restored an important indigenous forest. Continue to Kijege Hill to hear ancestral legends connected to the River Tana before visiting Kibuuka Falls, a site associated with the historical separation of the Tharaka and Nithi peoples. End the day relaxing by the river before returning to the homestead for dinner and conversation.

Day 3: Meru National Park Safari

Spend the day discovering the wild beauty of Meru National Park. Enjoy a guided game drive through rivers, woodlands, grasslands, and swamps while searching for elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife. Visit the Rhino Sanctuary, home to both black and white rhinos, and stop at Elsa's Grave, the final resting place of the famous lioness from Born Free. After a picnic lunch, continue your afternoon safari before watching the sunset over one of Kenya's most unspoiled national parks. Share stories, exchange goodbyes, and reflect on the friendships formed before departing for Nairobi, arriving in the evening with lasting memories of a culture rarely experienced by visitors.

Conversations happen naturally over food preparation and shared meals rather than scripted sessions, and stories emerge in the evening as they always have, without prompting.

This experience is designed for travellers seeking meaningful cultural exchange beyond the typical tourist route: photographers, filmmakers, writers, and researchers. By the end of your stay, you'll leave with more than photographs—you'll carry home authentic stories, new friendships, and a deeper appreciation of Tharaka/Meru heritage alongside unforgettable wildlife encounters in Meru National Park.
