Our tasting of 4 typical wines offers 4 different local labels from our partner winery Mamete Prevostini, accompanied by two courses of platters with a selection of Valtellina cured meats (local salami, Bresaola IGP from Valtellina and peppered pancetta). We start with Opera, an Alpi Retiche IGT vinified in white, with a fresh and fruity flavour, and then move on to Monrose, an Alpi Retiche IGT, this time vinified in rosé, with hints of small red fruits and rosehip. Then we move on to the reds with the third label, Santarita, Rosso di Valtellina DOC, a medium-bodied wine with part of its ageing in wooden barrels. The finale is reserved for Marena, Sassella DOCG, a full-bodied red from the largest area of Valtellina Superiore that, thanks to its ageing of 12 months in oak + 8 months in the bottle, is a structured wine with an aftertaste of Amarena, as the name recalls in the local dialect.
