For generations, the Fraccaroli family of San Pietro in Cariano, known as the Matio family, has been dedicated to cultivating the vineyard in the charming village of San Pietro in Cariano, and more precisely in the Cariano area of the Valpolicella Classica region.
In 1946, grandfather Giovanni, a veteran of the war, moved from just producing grapes to transforming them into Valpolicella and Recioto wine. And this is where our family's winemaking experience began, with the first two hectares in Cariano.
The tradition and work then continued under the guidance of Dad Mario, who with great passion and dedication devoted himself to caring for the vineyards and the cellar; he led the company to bottle and sell the wine to retailers, adding the production of Amarone and Ripasso. Supported also by the passion and tenacity of mother Teodora, they bought the vineyards of Fumane, Gargagnago, and Palazzolo.
In 2010, after completing his studies as an oenologist, the baton was passed to his son Flavio, who, attentive to the traditional teachings he received from his father and to his own studies, continues to run the company with the same passion for the production of these great wines. With the help of his sister Daniela, we manage the vineyards, the cellar, and hospitality.
From here, we produce the classic wines of Valpolicella. The young and fresh Valpolicella Classico Superiore, its older brother Valpolicella Ripasso, the austere but engaging Amarone, and the delicious Recioto. These are joined by the fresh and summery Rosa del Basilio and the limited edition family selection: the fruity and young Teodora, dedicated to the mother, and the structured and important Amarone Mario.
