Activity itinerary

Convent de San Bernardino de Siena (Pass by)

At first glance it looks like a medieval fortress, but you are actually in front of the Convent of San Bernardino di Siena.

Sisal (Pass by)

The Sisal district is one of the oldest in Valladolid. Its name comes from the Maya Ziiz-Ha, "cold water," in reference to the underground cenote located under the convent, known long before the arrival of the Spanish.

Calzada de los Frailes (Pass by)

This diagonal street stands out from the rest of the grid city both by its colourful facades and by its history.

Calle 44 (Pass by)

If the large wooden door of the restaurant La Casona in Valladolid is open, don't hesitate to come in to visit the inner courtyard, you will be surprised!

Valladolid (Pass by)

In Valladolid, craftsmanship is the living expression of Mayan heritage, and embroidery is undoubtedly its most visible soul. The artisans, generally women, perpetuate a textile art recognised as intangible cultural heritage of the Yucatán.

Iglesia de la Candelaria (Pass by)

This beautiful orange-colored church dates from the 18th century and replaces an older, more modest chapel. It is distinguished by its three-arched arcade of Moorish inspiration

Casa China (Pass by)

If you continue left for 50 metres along Calle 40, you will come across one of Valladolid's most surprising curiosities. A Chinese house in the heart of a city marked by Spanish heritage.

Cenote Zaci (Pass by)

In the heart of Valladolid, only five minutes from the main square, the Zací cenote is the city's only urban cenote and one of the most accessible.

Municipal Market Bates Donato Herrera (Pass by)

Just two steps from the Zací cenote, the Donato Bates Herrera Point of Sale is a must-see place to "taste" the soul of the city. Recently renovated with its colourful arches and walls painted in bright tones, it will welcome you in an authentically Mexican atmosphere

Parque de Santa Ana (Pass by)

This small, peaceful square is actually at the crossroads of three fundamental historical moments.

Museo de San Roque (Pass by)

Located in the former convent of San Roque, this museum traces the history of Valladolid and all of eastern Yucatán, from the pre-Hispanic era to the Mexican Revolution.

Casa de los Venados (Pass by)

If the colours of Mexican art attract you, head to the Casa de los Venados, the "Deer House," about ten metres from here. This house with the red facade that you see houses a private, still-inhabited residence.

Palacio Municipal (Pass by)

You are in front of the Palacio Municipal de Valladolid, which today houses the Valladolid town hall.

Plaza e Parque Francisco Canton (Pass by)

It doesn't seem so, but you are here at the top of an ancient Mayan pyramid, or almost... Where this urban park stands today, one of the pyramids of the pre-Hispanic city of Zací once rose.

Iglesia De San Servacio (Pass by)

How not to notice the Cathedral of San Gervasio standing, imposing, in front of you? Its facade, richly decorated with geometric interlaces and a coat of arms of great finesse...

Valladolid (Pass by)

You are about to take Calzada de los Frailes street to discover the convent and the history of the Maya area of Sisal.

Valladolid (Pass by)

I take advantage of this walk through the colourful streets of Valladolid to suggest some ideas for visits that allow you to extend the discovery of the city and its surroundings.
