According to Maya legend, it was built in a single night by a magical dwarf. Standing over 35 metres (115 feet) tall, its unique rounded shape and impressive architecture make it one of the most remarkable pyramids in the Maya world. The Bird Quadrangle is a smaller residential and ceremonial complex named after the numerous bird carvings found on its façades. These decorations reflect the importance of wildlife in Maya symbolism and daily life.
