Programme:
Your German or English speaking guide will pick you up by jeep from your accommodation and you will start the adventure through the mountain village of Maries. Here here you will leave the paved road and reach over gravel roads parallel to the small river Lakkos Marion the nice waterfalls that it forms above the reservoir. Continue to one of the island's most impressive marble quarries. Here you can watch the quarrying of the famous white marble. Secluded slopes lead you up to the Ipsarion, at 1206 m the highest mountain and the “roof of the island”. You will never forget the unique view of the Thracian Sea from here! From here one can see the island of Thassopoula, the mainland and the river Nestos as it flows into the sea after its long journey and the coast of Macedonia and Thrace. Varied landscape accompanies you further to the mountain village of Kastro, an almost uninhabited village with a history of 600 years. There you will visit the church of Agios Athanasios and the ossuary of the village. In Kastro you can taste Greek home cooking in the traditional taverna. After our visit to Kastro, we head down to the coast and back to your accommodation
