Our journey begins at the iconic Plaka Bridge, a remarkable feat of engineering and a testament to Greece's rich cultural heritage. As one of the largest single-arch stone bridges in the country, it spans the Arachthos River and offers a striking view of its serene surroundings. Standing on the bridge, one can feel the whispers of history, as it dates back to the 19th century and served as a vital connector for locals and travellers alike. Continuing our adventure, we arrive in Pramanta, a charming village located amidst the majestic Tzoumerka mountains. Known for its warm hospitality, Pramanta captivates visitors with its traditional stone houses and tranquil atmosphere. Strolling through the narrow streets, one can savour the aroma of local cuisine wafting from tavernas and discover the vibrant local crafts sold by artisans.
Our next destination is the breathtaking Kipinas Monastery, a stunning cliffside structure that appears to be carved from the very rock face it clings to. Built in the 18th century, the monastery offers a spiritual escape for visitors, who are welcomed by the sight of ancient frescoes and beautifully maintained chapels. From the monastery, the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains create an awe-inspiring backdrop, inviting contemplation and reflection.
We then journey to the picturesque villages of Kallarytes and Syrrako, both known for their well-preserved architecture and rich cultural heritage. These stone-built villages exhibit a timeless charm, with narrow alleys, ornate stone facades, and quaint squares that invite leisurely exploration.
