What you can expect
Important note: Group tours are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while private options are available every day.
Your journey begins at Khor Virap Monastery, offering breathtaking views of biblical Mount Ararat. This iconic site holds profound religious and historical importance as the place where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned, marking the beginning of Christianity in Armenia - the first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion.
Continue to the scenic Azat Reservoir, a hidden gem surrounded by the rolling hills of the Yeranos Mountains. Located at an altitude of 1,050 metres, this peaceful spot offers stunning panoramic views, including both Mount Ararat and Mount Aragats - perfect for unforgettable photos.
Next, visit the magnificent Garni Temple, the only standing Greco-Roman pagan temple in the Caucasus, dating back to the 1st century AD. Built in honour of the sun god Mihr, the complex also features the remains of a well-preserved Roman bathhouse with its original mosaic floor.
Explore the awe-inspiring Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site partially carved into the surrounding rock cliffs. Dating back to the early Christian period, this architectural masterpiece is beautifully set within the dramatic Upper Azat Valley.
During the tour, experience Armenia’s living traditions with a Lavash baking demonstration in a traditional underground tonir oven. Lavash, Armenia’s iconic flatbread, is recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Watch the baking process and taste this freshly prepared national staple. Please note that lavash baking is not included in the private options. It must be requested in advance and paid for separately.
Experience Armenia’s spiritual heritage, breathtaking nature, ancient architecture, and authentic culinary traditions - all in one unforgettable day.
