What you can expect

  • Morning. Leaving Khiva. The road takes you to the endless sands of the Kyzylkum, where time seems to have stopped.
The first stop is Kyzyl-Kala. The Red Fortress greets you with its crimson walls, burning in the morning sun. You stand where the archers guarded the approaches to the capital, listening to legends about the underground passages that hold the spirits of the desert.
The second stop is Toprak-Kala. The earthen fortress, the majestic capital. Climbing up to the citadel, you will see the clear outlines of the ancient streets and the palace, where the Zoroastrian priests lit the sacred fire. Entrance tickets to museums are not included in the price.

The third stop is Ayaz-Kala. Three fortresses on the tops of the hills. Climbing up to the main stronghold rewards you with a panorama of the endless sands and the wind, whose name this place bears. The legend of the shepherd Ayaz and the beautiful princess comes to life here among the ancient walls.
The fourth stop is Guldursun-Kala. The rumbling fortress is the last stronghold before the desert. Its mighty walls remember the invasion of Genghis Khan and the tragic storey of the beautiful Guldursun, whose name has become a curse and a legend.Sunset. Entering Bukhara. You leave behind the kingdom of sand and fortresses, taking with you not just photographs, but a living history that has passed through your heart.
