What you can expect

Travel into the 447,000-acre (181,000-ha) Torres del Paine National Park, a mountain wonderland of gorgeous valleys, glaciers, lakes, and rivers. See the peaks of the Cuernos del Paine rise over the landscape as trails lead throughout Torres del Paine's awe-inspiring scenery.

Start with a visit to Milodon Cave, a natural monument notable as the site where an extinct species of giant ground sloth was discovered in 1896. A life-size replica of the prehistoric creature, resembling a large bear, stands at the entrance. Several caves are accessible to visit, with incredible stalactite formations as well as the Silla del Diablo rock formation, Spanish for “Devil's Chair.”

Next, stop at a lovely villa at Castillo Hill before entering the park, travel along the breathtaking natural beauty of Sarmiento Lake, and then continue along Nordenskjold Lake, Salto Grande Waterfall, and the Grey Lake. Stop at Hosteria Pehoé to enjoy lunch in front of the lake's turquoise waters, and then head to the Grey Sector to visit the enormous glacier that feeds it.

After a short walk on the shore of the lake to admire the giant ice floes, head back towards Puerto Natales through Amarga Lagoon, along a route with great views of the Paine Towers, for the perfect end to a pleasant day's journey in this enchanting Chilean icon.
