This is a unique hike through the Tirana Valleys that we developed over the winter of 2024/25. You will need a good level of fitness and be prepared for some steep climbs on poorly maintained paths. The only people walking these trails are local shepherds, and us! The hike begins with a climb up from the trailhead on little-used mule paths. After about an hour and a half of walking, we'll reach a hidden valley, and a small village that still has no asphalt road connection. From here the terrain gets easier, as we pass through rolling farmland, ending at the village café around 14.00. Here we'll enjoy a beer (or raki) and a simple lunch made from ingredients sourced in the village. At 16.00, Benny, the village's school-bus driver, will take us back down to asphalt in his treasured 1980s Mercedes minibus. The distance is only about 7km but the road is extremely rough, so the descent will take about 40 minutes! The drive-time back to Tirana is difficult to estimate due to the city's crazy traffic!
