A double experience: dine at a local's home, savour Roman dishes, share stories and take a scenic walk in Garbatella, one of Rome’s most fascinating areas. I am Giulia, I will share with you its unique atmosphere and the beauty of its little known corners, local spots, architectural details.

Welcome to my bright penthouse with a beautiful terrace overlooking historic buildings. I truly enjoy sharing special moments together, whether it’s tasting a good glass of wine, savouring a delicious meal, or meeting new people in a warm atmosphere.

Enjoy an aperitivo followed by a home-cooked 4 course meal in a relaxed atmosphere and fully immerse in the true spirit of the city. The recipes I cook come from my mother, my grandmother, and generations before them. Each dish is made with care, dedication, seasonal ingredients from local markets, and sometimes a touch of creativity.

Please note that we have two cats (they're gentle and very calm) so do keep this in mind if you have allergies

Savour Roman cuisine with a delicious five-course dinner in a beautiful private home, a bright penthouse with a lovely terrace overlooking the historic buildings of Garbatella. Please note that for lunch reservations, the programme includes the meal at home first, followed by the tour of Garbatella area. For dinner reservations, we will first explore the area to make the most of daylight, and have dinner at home afterwards. Please note that we have two (lovely and nice) cats

Piazza Benedetto Brin

Let's go see where Garbatella was founded in 1920. The first buildings and garden, a model for the buildings (Lotti) to come. A brief introductions to this former working class area with a strong popular spirit, and it's history

Via della Garbatella

Let's start wandering around the "village": we will admire the famous Lotti with communal gardens; some of them hosted popular actors or singers. The actor Maurizio Arena, who starred in films by Dino Risi (Poveri ma belli/Poor but beautiful, 1957) lived here, in Via della Garbatella

Via Luigi Fincati

Explore Barocchetto architecture: the signature, eclectic architectural style of Rome's Garbatella district, developed in the 1920s by architect Gustavo Giovannoni. It blends Baroque elements with neoclassical, medieval, and rural styles, featuring low-density, colourful buildings. The buildings are viewed from the outside

Teatro Palladium Università Roma Tre

Built in 1927, former cinema, now theatre run by the University of Roma Tre. It's facade is inspired by the majestic classical buildings of ancient Rome. The building will be viewed from outside, or from the foyer during opening hours.

Via Edgardo Ferrati

See how they lived until the 1960's. Garbatella former Public showers were in operation until the 1960s. It now hosts a cultural hub and public Library. The buildings are viewed from the outside, or from the foyer during opening hours

Piazza Nicola Longobardi

La scuoletta (small school). Built in the 16th century as a hunting lodge for a clergyman, some parts of the building were added in 1927 when it became a preschool. It's still a kindergarten nowadays. The building will be viewed from the outside

Casetta Rossa

A landmark of the area: self-managed social space with bar/restaurant and garden, it promotes active citizen participation and it's a space for cultural, social, and political events. Everyone knows Casetta Rossa here in Garbatella

Albergo Rosso

A complex of buildings named Suburban Hotels, built between 1927 and 1929. They combined residences with a set of collective functions: a canteen, nursery and school, a church, laundries and ironing rooms, kitchens, shared toilets, living rooms, outdoor play areas, and warehouses. Today they are a private apartment building; they will be viewed from outside

Piazza Geremia Bonomelli

Find the stucco bust depicting the courteous innkeeper who gave her name to the area, and the first electoral poster of the Italian republican history.

Fontana della Carlotta

The fountain dedicated to the woman who, according to legend, being very gentle, gave her name to the area

Via Roberto de Nobili

The Righteous Building (Civico Giusto): the inhabitants hid a Jewish family during Second World War. In an interview, one of the former children of the Limentani family, says that in Garbatella he felt sure that no one would report them to the fascists

Piazza Giuseppe Sapeto

Roman Baroque style buildings (1930), the square is famous for its panoramic arch and the stairs overlooking the famous architectural complex of the Albergo Rosso, and for Italian director Nanni Moretti's film "Caro Diario"

Piazza di San Eurosia

A nice, vibrant piazza with bars and restaurants, and Church of Sant'Eurosia, a small country church incorporated into the city when Garbatella was built

Piazza Damiano Sauli

One of the main squares of the district, with a monumental buding (the school) that strongly defines a central location in the Garbatella area. This building has welcomed (and still welcomes) generations of local children. Notice the four eagles on the facade!

Villetta Social Lab

Another landmark for social activities: a cultural centre offering many activities such as a chess club, book presentations, debates, festivals on current issues. It also has a small bar open on weekends, run by people with autism. Very nice building with small garden
