Overview

We will skirt the cliff and its bays through the path Le Matinelle. Along this rocky coast with high and continuous walls overlooking the sea, far from the city, it will be possible to admire the colourful bee-eater, and listen to its unmistakable verse similar to a “crane-crane”.
It is a migratory bird with a kite wingspan, which winters in tropical Africa and reaches our territory in late spring, to nest along the sandstone walls.
This beautiful coastal scenic path leads to Le Conche, a shady pine forest close to a cliff on which you can see dinosaur footprints dating back about 120 million years, now included in the Geosites Register. The route will end at Torre Olivieri, a 16th century lookout tower located at the mouth of Lama Paterna, a small erosive valley typical of the Apulian landscape, which conveys rainwater from the Murge karst plateau towards the Adriatic Sea.
