Overview

  • This private full day covers Yangon's essential sights with your own guide and driver. It starts at Sule Pagoda, an octagonal Mon-style stupa standing in the middle of a city centre roundabout, with City Hall, the High Court and the Independence Monument in Maha Bandula Park all around it.
Next is Chauk Htat Gyi and its 66-metre Reclining Buddha, one of the city's leading Buddhist centres. After a photo stop at Karaweik Hall on Kandawgyi Lake, head to Bogyoke Market, also known as Scott's Market, for handicrafts and some friendly haggling with local traders.
In the afternoon, visit Botataung Pagoda on the riverside and more of Yangon's religious sites. The day saves the biggest moment for last: Shwedagon Pagoda, rising almost 98 metres above the city and believed to be more than 2,500 years old.
