What you can expect
See the absolute best of what New Zealand has to offer during a tour that takes you through some of the country's most beautiful landscape, including the world-famous Hobbiton, where scenes from the popular Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films were shot.
Depart Tauranga in a comfortable coach and cross the Harbour Bridge, catching views of Mount Maunganui. Then climb up to over 1,000 feet (304 m) to cross the Kaimai Range, which divides the Bay of Plenty coastal region from the Waikato district, the main dairy farming area of New Zealand.
You soon arrive at Hobbiton, a major location for the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit films. Your guide provides fascinating and informative commentary about these film sets, putting you right in the world of the famed hobbits. Stand under the party tree, walk past the hobbit holes and imagine yourself interacting with the beloved characters.
On the journey back to Tauranga, enjoy a stop at the summit of the Kaimai Range for great photo opportunities overlooking the valley far below, with towering extinct volcanoes in the distance. Time permitting explore a honey-making facility to see the hives and taste some local Manuka honey. Enjoy sights of spectacular waterfront homes lining the beautiful golden-sand beaches of Mount Maunganui as you return to Tauranga.
