The walk begins at the island’s sports facilities, overlooking the old Telegraph Office. A key landmark along the way is the Lazaretta, the hospitable quarantine building, built in 1840 by the Bavarian architect Wilhelm von Weiler. Heading northeast, your first stop is the Tarsanas of Ermoupoli, the oldest shipyard in the Cyclades, where traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques have remained alive since 1860. Continuing towards the Neorion shipyard, we then pass by the small harbour and cross the Karnagio, a place filled with maritime stories. Then we ascend the steps towards the heart of Ermoupoli. Walking through the central market, we arrive at the historic Miaouli Square. Here, we will visit the public areas of the impressive Ermoupoli Town Hall. Next, we admire the impressive interior of the Apollo Theatre. As we continue uphill, we pass by the neoclassical building of the Cyclades Labour Centre and the imposing Church of Saint Nicholas, distinguished by its characteristic blue dome. Your journey concludes in the aristocratic Vaporia district, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters by the pier.
