We begin with pickup from Sydney and head south through the breathtaking Wollombi Valley, a landscape of ancient sandstone ridges, eucalyptus forest and golden light that most visitors to the Hunter Valley never see.
Our first stop is Wollombi village. One of Australia's most historically significant settlements, Wollombi was established as the original government town when the Hunter Valley was first opened up. Walking these streets you feel the full weight of that history. I share the stories, the characters, the convict roads and the colonial past that shaped everything that came after. We take our time. If you fancy a coffee before the wine begins, we stop.
From there we visit three handpicked wineries, a mix of historic estates and boutique producers chosen for their character and storey. You will taste classic Hunter Semillon, the wine this region made famous, and explore Shiraz or Chardonnay across Australian regions. I guide you through what you are tasting and why, in a way that is warm, personal and completely unpretentious whether you are new to wine or already passionate about it.
Then comes your fourth stop, chosen by you on the day. A guided wine and cheese tasting. A wine and chocolate pairing experience. Or a relaxed coffee and cake stop in the valley. Whatever calls to you, that is where we go.
We finish the drive back to Sydney through some of the most spectacular scenery in NSW, full, relaxed and with a very different understanding of one of Australia's most iconic wine regions.
