In the heart of Puglia, Stornara is a small agricultural village that has reinvented itself through urban art, transforming its streets into an open-air museum thanks to the “Stramurales” street art festival. Since 2018, the initiative has been promoted by the Stornara Life APS association, which had the intuition to bring art to the streets, involving internationally renowned artists with the aim of enhancing the area, telling its storey, and stimulating community participation.
Today, Stornara has over 130 murals distributed along its streets and squares, making it a unique destination for street art lovers. The works tell stories of freedom, identity, rebirth, and memory, with subjects inspired by local traditions, peasant culture, spirituality, and universal values. Each mural is the result of a dialogue between the artist and the community, thus becoming a symbol of belonging and social cohesion. The project has attracted artists from all over the world, including established names from Europe, the Americas, China, and Australia, giving life to an artistic journey that blends different languages, styles, and cultures. This creative melting pot has made Stornara a shining example of urban regeneration and tourism promotion, attracting visitors and curious onlookers from all over Italy and abroad.
