What you can expect

Highlights of our route:
• Cavity Chaos: Our adventure begins at one of Attica's most impressive natural landmarks.
A gigantic chasm, 55 metres (180 feet) deep, formed by the collapse of a cave roof. The view from its rim is truly breathtaking and provides the perfect “local secret” for photos.
• Ancient Mines & Wash Houses: We will walk among the ruins of the ancient silver mining and processing facilities. You will get a close-up view of the ancient ore washing machines and tanks, a marvel of ancient engineering that provided Athens with the wealth to build the Acropolis.
• Mine galleries and shaft: Throughout our journey, we will have the opportunity to see the entrances to ore mines and approach them from a safe distance to get a sense of how the miners of the time worked.
• Miners' Dwellings: As the trail leads us into the heart of the 19th-century settlement, time seems to stand still. We will walk among the stone dwellings that were once teeming with life, where the miners' daily routine became one with the hard stone and the light of Attica.
Amid the ruins and quiet courtyards, we will discover the traces of the people who, through hard work and determination, shaped the future of this area. It is not just a settlement; it is a mosaic of memory, where the traditional architecture of the last century meets the raw charm of the Lavrion landscape.
• The Agia Triada settlement: We will make a stop at the historic Agia Triada settlement. Under the shade of the pine trees, we will stroll among the old miners' houses and get a close-up view of one of Europe's oldest industrial landscapes.
• Flora & Scents: As we traverse the Suniada plateau, we will encounter the unique vegetation of the Drymos Forest.
We will see the imposing Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), centuries-old olive trees, and the characteristic maquis vegetation of the Attic landscape, infused with the scents of wild thyme and rosemary.

The culmination of the experience
Our journey concludes where history meets tranquility. Leaving behind the silent mines and the imposing “Chaos,” you carry with you the essence of the land that laid the foundation for the power of ancient Athens. Now is the time to breathe in the fresh air of Attica and feel the timeless connection between human perseverance and the untamed nature of Sounion. With one last glance at the horizon, we return to the present, having touched the very core of Athenian history. An experience that combines the heritage of the Golden Age with the absolute tranquility of the National Park.
