What you can expect

Day 1: Kandy to Anuradhapura

Begin your journey with a morning pickup from Kandy and travel north through Sri Lanka’s cultural heartland.

Sri Muthumariamman Temple, Matale

An impressive Hindu kovil famous for its colourful tower covered in detailed sculptures of deities. It showcases the island’s rich multicultural heritage and offers a vibrant spiritual atmosphere.

Dambulla Cave Temple

A UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 1st century BCE. This vast cave complex contains more than 150 Buddha statues and magnificent ceiling frescoes. The hilltop setting provides sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Rising nearly 200 metres above the jungle, this 5th-century royal citadel was built by King Kashyapa. Discover landscaped water gardens, the Mirror Wall, and the world-famous frescoes. The climb to the summit rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views.

Continue to Anuradhapura for an overnight stay in Sri Lanka’s first great kingdom.

Day 2: Discovering Anuradhapura

Explore one of Asia’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jetavanaramaya

Once among the tallest structures of the ancient world, this massive brick stupa reflects remarkable engineering and was a major Buddhist monastic centre.

Abhayagiri Vihara

A vast monastery complex that once housed thousands of monks and played a key role in spreading Buddhist teachings across the region.

Thuparamaya

The first dagoba built in Sri Lanka after Buddhism was introduced in the 3rd century BCE, enshrining a sacred relic of the Buddha.

Kuttam Pokuna

Beautifully designed Twin Ponds demonstrating advanced ancient hydraulic technology.

Samadhi Buddha Statue

A serene 4th-century statue portraying Buddha in deep meditation, admired for its perfect proportions and calm expression.

Sandakada Pahana

Intricately carved stone slabs symbolising the cycle of life, placed at temple entrances.

Eth Pokuna

A large ancient reservoir believed to have supplied water to monks.

Conclude with visits to:

Ruwanwelisaya

One of Sri Lanka’s most sacred stupas, built in the 2nd century BCE, renowned for its brilliant white dome.

Sri Maha Bodhi

The oldest historically recorded living tree in the world, grown from the original Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.

We will visit the ceremony of Ruwanwelisaya and Sri Maha Bodhi in evening.

Overnight in Wilpattu.

Day 3: Wilpattu National Park

Enjoy an early morning safari in Sri Lanka’s largest national park, famous for its natural lakes known as “villus.” Wilpattu is one of the best places to spot the elusive Sri Lankan leopard, along with sloth bears, elephants, deer, crocodiles, and rich birdlife. You can either do a full day safari (11 Hours) or a hald day safari (4 and half hours). After that returning to Kandy.
