Day 1:
The Small Circuit & Angkor Sunrise
Focus: Iconic Icons, Spiritual Grandeur & Jungle Ruins
• 04:45 AM | Hotel Pick-up & Dawn Departure
Set off in the cool morning air to catch the world's most famous sunrise.
• Angkor Wat (Sunrise Session): Watch the sun rise directly behind the iconic lotus towers of the world's largest religious monument. After dawn, explore the quiet corridors, the 800-meter-long bas-reliefs, and the cosmic symbolism of the empire.
• Angkor Thom & Bayon Temple: Enter the ancient “Great City” through the monumental South Gate. At its centre stands Bayon, where over 200 massive, enigmatic stone faces gaze down at you.
• Ta Keo: A brief stop at this imposing “temple-mountain.” Left unfinished, its raw green sandstone blocks offer a fascinating look at ancient Khmer engineering.
• Ta Prohm (The Tomb Raider Temple): Witness the incredible power of nature. Giant silk-cotton trees and strangler figs wrap tightly around the ruins, creating the atmospheric jungle aesthetic made famous on the big screen.
• Banteay Kdei: Conclude your day at this peaceful “Citadel of Chambers.” This sprawling monastic complex is less crowded, offering a quiet, shaded space to reflect on your first day.
Day 2:
Grand Circuit & Banteay Srei The Pink Citadel
Focus: Intricate Carvings, Island Temples & Sunset Vistas
• 08:00 AM | Hotel Pick-up
• Banteay Srei (The Pink Temple): Travel a bit further into the countryside to see the jewel of Khmer art. Built from rare pink sandstone, this temple features the most intricate, deeply-cut bas-reliefs in all of Angkor, often called “the tapestry of Khmer art.”
• Banteay Samre: Visit this beautifully restored “Mini Angkor Wat.” Tucked away from the main crowds, it offers great photo opportunities in near-perfect solitude.
• Preah Khan (The Royal Sword): Explore a sprawling, moss-covered labyrinth that once served as a university and temporary capital.
• Neak Poan: Walk across a scenic wooden boardwalk over a vast, flooded reservoir to reach this unique, serene island temple, once used as an ancient healing spa.
• Ta Som & East Mebon: Stop at the photogenic eastern gate of Ta Som (perfectly framed by a sacred tree root) before heading to East Mebon to admire its massive, life-sized stone elephants.
• Pre Rup (Sunset Finale): Ascend the tiers of this dramatic red-brick pyramid temple. As the day ends, watch the surrounding jungle canopy turn gold as the red laterite stone glows under the setting Cambodian sun.
