Overview

If you’re visiting Berlin for the first time, this guided shore excursion offers a clear and respectful way to see both the city’s top landmarks and the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial. You’ll be picked up right at your cruise ship in Warnemünde or Rostock and travel comfortably to Berlin, where a local guide will introduce you to key highlights across the city.

In the afternoon, you’ll continue to Sachsenhausen, located about an hour outside Berlin, for a brief visit and overview of the site. Because it lies along the return route to port, this schedule helps reduce total travel time—though this tour includes more time on the bus than our standard Berlin-only option.

Each tour is carefully timed to your ship’s docking schedule, and we always return with time to spare. With nearly a decade of experience, we make sure your day is informative, well-paced, and completely cruise-friendly.

Activity itinerary

Warnemünde Cruise Center (Pass by)

Your day begins right at your cruise ship, where a friendly team member will be waiting as soon as you dock. You'll board a modern, air-conditioned coach for a comfortable ride through the peaceful flatlands of former East Germany. The journey to Berlin takes about three hours, giving you time to relax and enjoy the scenery. Your guide will meet you upon arrival in the city.

Charlottenburg Palace

  • 15m
  • Admission ticket not included
Your first photo stop in Berlin is the beautiful Charlottenburg Palace. You’ll have time to walk through its grand front courtyards and hear how it was built by King Frederick I for his wife, Sophie-Charlotte. Your guide will share background on this elegant Baroque landmark and help you capture some great photos.

Str. des 17. Juni 100 (Pass by)

Next, enjoy a scenic drive through Tiergarten, Berlin’s large central park. This peaceful green space is home to important buildings and embassies, offering a calm and beautiful contrast to the city’s busier areas.

Victory Column (Pass by)

As you circle the Victory Column, keep your camera ready. Your guide will explain the storey behind this golden-winged statue of Victoria, built to honour Prussia’s military victories in the 19th century. It’s one of Berlin’s most eye-catching monuments.

Platz d. Republik 1

  • 10m
At the German Parliament building (Reichstag Building), you’ll step off the bus to continue your tour on foot. The Reichstag was badly damaged in a fire during Hitler’s rise to power and now stands as a symbol of modern German democracy. Your guide will give context to this powerful building and its recent history.

Brandenburg Gate

  • 15m
Walk through the famous Brandenburg Gate, one of the most important landmarks in all of Germany. Once part of the Berlin Wall, it now represents peace and unity. Your guide will share stories from its long and dramatic past.

The Holocaust Memorial - Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

  • 15m
From Pariser Platz, you’ll visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Walking through the field of concrete blocks is a quiet and powerful moment. Your guide will give you space for reflection while helping you understand the purpose and meaning behind the design.

Topography of Terror

  • 15m
Back on the bus, you’ll pass the former SS and Gestapo headquarters. Then, stop to see the Berlin Wall, a powerful reminder of the Cold War. Your guide will explain how Berlin was once divided and what daily life was like for people on both sides.

Checkpoint Charlie

  • 45m
Your next stop is Checkpoint Charlie, the best-known crossing point between East and West Berlin. Your guide will share stories from this historic spot before you take a 30–45 minute lunch break. You’ll have time to enjoy a meal, use the bathroom, and browse nearby souvenir shops

Museum Island

  • 10m
After lunch, enjoy a drive past the Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with historic buildings. Then, you’ll head to Sachsenhausen, about an hour outside the city. Your guide will explain what to expect at the memorial site during the ride.

Sachsenhausen Memorial & Museum

  • 1h 15m
When you arrive at Sachsenhausen, your guide will lead a 60–75 minute overview of the concentration camp memorial. This stop can be emotional and thought-provoking, but your guide is there to support you and answer any questions. After the visit, you’ll say goodbye to your guide and settle in for the return ride to port. This tour is carefully timed to match your ship’s schedule, and you'll arrive back with plenty of time before departure. Our team has safely returned thousands of cruise guests to their ships, and your comfort and peace of mind are always our top priorities.
