(JR Sendai Station East Exit Sightseeing Bus Platform)
・Departure: 8:00 AM, on time

Meet your guide at Sendai Station and set off for a scenic day trip to Ginzan Onsen, Zao Ropeway Snow Monsters Tour.

Step into the nostalgic charm of Ginzan Onsen, a picturesque hot spring town that feels like a scene straight out of the animated film Spirited Away. Take a leisurely stroll along the cobblestone paths beside the Ginzan River, where the tranquil sound of water flowing adds to the magical atmosphere.

Enjoy the soothing natural beauty of the Shirogane Waterfall, located near the entrance of the town, creating a serene backdrop. See traditional multistorey wooden inns line both sides of the river, evoking the ambiance of Japan’s Taisho era.

Admire the Notoya Ryokan, one of the most iconic inns, with intricate architecture and historical significance. Marvel at the Fujiya Ryokan, a modernist-meets-classic architectural marvel designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma.

Choose to enjoy local delicacies such as onsen manju (steamed buns), soba noodles, or pick up unique regional souvenirs and crafts. Then, board the vehicle and travel towards Yamagata City for a delicious local lunch.

Next, Ride the Ropeway up the mountain to enjoy panoramic views and seasonal natural wonders. In winter, witness the awe-inspiring Zao “Juhyo” — also known as Snow Monsters, a rare phenomenon where ice and snow cling to the trees, creating fantastical shapes that resemble frozen beasts.

Zao Onsen (Departures Apr 26 – Oct 31)
Set at an altitude of around 900 metres, Zao Onsen boasts over 1,000 years of history. The nostalgic hot spring town centers around the stone-paved Takayu Street, lined with traditional inns, public baths, footbaths, and long-established local eateries. Steam rising from sulfur-rich waters fills the air, creating a classic Showa-era onsen town atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing walk while sampling local cuisine and shopping for regional souvenirs.

Okama Crater Lake (Departures Apr 26 – Oct 31)
Known as the symbol of the Zao Mountain Range, Okama Crater is a stunning circular volcanic lake whose shape resembles a traditional Japanese cooking pot. Nicknamed the “Five-Color Lake,” its water shifts between emerald green, blue, and turquoise depending on the weather and season. Open to visitors from approximately April to November, travellers can access scenic viewpoints near Mount Katta or the Okama Shrine to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the crater lake and surrounding alpine landscape.

This day trip offers you to soak in the romantic winter charm of Japan’s snow country. Enjoy the perfect blend of traditional Japanese culture, delicious local cuisine, and unforgettable natural wonders.
