Overview

  • Experience the beauty, history and rugged terrain of La Plata Canyon on this 2.5 hour off road Jeep adventure near Durango. The highlight is exclusive access to a private 25 foot waterfall located on a historic mining claim. This special waterfall is available only to Rivertrippers guests and cannot be visited by the general public or guests of other tour companies.

    After approximately 20 to 25 minutes on the highway, your guide will enter the canyon on gravel, dirt and historic mining roads. Expect a bumpy, dusty and exciting ride. It is all part of the Jeep tour experience.

    Visit three seasonal waterfall locations, explore mining history and travel through mountain terrain reaching approximately 10,000 feet. This is our shorter and less technical canyon tour, but less technical does not mean smooth. Waterfall flow varies with snowmelt, rainfall and seasonal conditions. This tour is not recommended for travellers with back problems. All ages welcome on this tour.
